A small contingent of our officers, active and retired, including Deputy Chief Rob Johnson, paid their respects this morning at the 9/11 memorial.
In the last week, we seized 9 crime guns, laid 82 charges, and arrested 11 suspects, including 2 youths.
Keeping our city safe is the top priority of the Toronto Police Service.
Today, we remember those who lost their lives on 9/11, the heroes who stepped up, and the families whose courage and resilience continue to inspire us.
Unregistered cell phones without a SIM card or phone plan can still call 911. Don’t let children play with old phones.
When a 911 caller doesn’t respond to the operator, the operator is duty bound to call back to ensure they are safe.
The stigma around can prevent people from seeking help. Let's break those barriers.
If you or someone you know is having suicidal thoughts, please reach out - you are not alone.
Chief Myron Demkiw was honoured to open the 23rd annual VOICES Center for Resilience Symposium in New York today. After the September 11th terror attacks, VOICES was created by families to represent the 2977 victims and the 7000 survivors and first responders who have since died of 911 related illnesses. Chief Demkiw spoke as President of the Leadership in Counter Terrorism Alumni Association (LinCT-AA), which includes senior police and intelligence leaders from Canada, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, and the United States. “Victims are included in and considered as essential partners in the discussions and the work of our association. Under the leadership of Mary and Frank Fetchet, VOICES has garnered international respect and recognition.
Their dedication and tireless efforts have made a profound difference in the lives of countless victims, survivors, families, first responders and communities that have been impacted by the tragedy,” said Demkiw. Their 24-year-old son Bradley was killed in the World Trade Center on September 11. This week’s symposium brings together top police and intelligence leaders, victim advocates, and experts to talk about the importance of collaboration between law enforcement, intelligence, victims, and public-private partnerships to prepare for evolving threats.
