As spring winds down and summer rolls in, our crews planted trees around the intersection of Keele Street and Finch Avenue West. This planting is just a small part of thousands of trees being planted along the alignment.

The most recent and notable being the first ever test trip by Finch West LRT vehicles across the full alignment, with trains being able to safely reach speeds of up to 60 km/h.

The Finch West LRT features one of three platform styles at each of its 16 stops: Island, Mirror, and Near & Far.
The first photo (Martin Grove) features an Island design. The second photo (Westmore) features a Mirror style, while the third photo (Rowntree Mills) features a Near & Far design. Check them out 🚆

In a milestone moment, the Finch West LRT saw the simultaneous travel of two trains for the first time! They were engaged in crucial testing maneuvers, operating at speeds ranging from 10 to 25 km/h. This marks another step forward in bringing the Finch West LRT to life.

Crews working on the Finch West LRT project are in the final stages of paving on Finch Avenue West, from Kipling Avenue to 3025 Finch Ave W. Pedestrians and motorists are reminded to use caution when in the area and adhere to directional signage.

We’ve got the power! Crews are installing medium voltage switchgear at Finch West Station. This equipment will house and control switches, transformers, fuses and circuit breakers that will power the station.

Installation of the Overhead Catenary System poles (OCS) for the Finch West LRT are now complete! Fun fact: There are 481 OCS poles along the alignment.

Crews have completed the installation of the 200 m canopy that connects to Humber College campus. It was installed in 36 sections, which included overhead, cladding and glassworks. This will provide commuters a safe path to and from the campus to the station.

The overhead catenary system is now 70% installed! The system will be comprised of 477 poles running down the centre of Finch Avenue West – 340 of which are now in the ground.
