Rare Earths Norway has found Europe's largest rare earth elements deposit, with 8.8 million metric tons of TREOs in the Fen Carbonatite Complex.

This discovery, southwest of Oslo, aids Europe's clean energy transition and reduces reliance on China. The deposit includes 1.5 million metric tons of magnet-related rare earths, crucial for electric vehicles and wind turbines.

This discovery is important in supporting Europe's goal to extract at least 10% of its rare earth demand by 2030.

Financings are still ridiculously low even with peak gold prices.

As of April 2024, only $1.25B has been raised through IPO's, PP's, and PO's on the TSX Venture Exchange.

GameStop stock (GME) soars 75% after Keith Gill, known as "Roaring Kitty" on X and YouTube, revealed a ~$175 million investment in the retailer. Gill, who previously sparked the 2021 meme stock rally, posted a screenshot on Reddit showing his 5 million GameStop shares and 120,000 options contracts, valued at over $180 million.

The news follows GameStop's recent 180% surge in mid-May after Gill's first post on X since 2021. Last month, GameStop raised $930 million by selling 45 million shares during a rally, despite analysts' skepticism about the sustainability of meme-driven stock action.

The U.S. military has, for the first time in generations, invested public money into Canadian mining projects, allocating nearly $15 million to extract vital minerals such as copper, gold, graphite, and cobalt.

This historic initiative, driven by fears of global unrest and a shortage of raw materials, aims to ensure a stable supply of critical minerals essential for both civilian and military products.

The funding has been awarded to Ontario-based Fortune Minerals and Quebec-based Lomiko Metals.

South Korea's new stock market system to detect illegal short-selling will be implemented by Q1 2025, says Financial Supervisory Service governor Lee Bok-hyun.

Proposed in April, this mechanism is key to lifting the short-selling ban imposed since November, aiming to curb illegal trading by foreign banks.

South Korea's latest craze? Gold bars at convenience stores and vending machines. Recently, the country's largest convenience store chain, CU, collaborated with the Korea Minting and Security Printing Corporation (KOMSCO) to offer customers miniature gold bars.

According to local news reports, 1-gram bars sold out in less than 48 hours. Individuals in their 30s led the purchases of these gold bars, accounting for more than 41% of total sales since their introduction.

This is alarming.

Copper prices briefly touched $10,000 per ton and have increased by approximately 17% year-to-date amid looming supply shortages.

Goldman Sachs has raised its year-end price target to $12,000 per ton from $10,000, in anticipation of potential Federal Reserve easing. The likelihood of a Fed rate cut by year's end has risen to 54%, up from 40% at the end of April.

The U.S. Senate has approved legislation to ban imports of Russian uranium to disrupt Russia’s war against Ukraine. The United States had banned Russian oil imports shortly after the beginning of the war – February 2022.

Around 12% of Uranium used in U.S. nuclear power plants is imported from Russia (2022). "Wyoming has the uranium to replace Russian imports, and we're ready to use it" according to U.S. Senator John Barrasso.

Uranium stocks have been rallying over the last year, with Cameco ($CCO) up ~73.18% and the current price of U308 hovering around $91 per pound. With President Biden expected to sign this bill into law, this shift could significantly impact the valuation of uranium miners and support the US in becoming more self-reliant in its transition to cleaner energy.

The Biden administration plans to reclassify ma*****na as a lower-risk substance, better known as a Schedule III drug. Other drugs that fall within this category include ketamine and Tylenol with codeine.

Considering this, cannabis stocks rallied with some big names like Canopy ($WEED) closing up 80% and Tilray ($TLRY) up 41.9%.

Joe Biden pledged to investigate this in 2019 and seems to be sticking true to his word, marking a huge step forward in this multi-billion-dollar industry and should help ease some of the current harsh punitive criminal consequences.
