Be Careful What You Wish For…
Have you ever heard that cliché? Have you ever USED it? Why?
The full version of the expression is “Be careful what you wish for; you just might get it”. Have you ever asked WHY it’s bad to get what you wish for?
In this video, I explore that expression. What could go wrong when you get what you wish for? I come up with 2 explanations:
1️⃣ The King Midas Effect.
Sometimes your wishes have consequences that you don’t foresee. All you see is the good part. This is perfectly illustrated in the Greek myth of King Midas. If you’ve never heard that story watch the video below.
2️⃣ The “Wish-Cuse”
Sometimes your wish is actually an excuse dressed up as a wish. Or as I like to call it, a wish-cuse. If you get what you wish for in this case, your wish just gets exposed as the excuse that it really is.
