Going on exchange will forever be one of the best decisions I’ve made. It was an incredible experience where I was able to meet new people, explore new cultures, and live a life where there was something new to do everyday. The most important thing was that I grew as a person and that’s all because of this amazing opportunity. The University (UC3M) was located just outside Madrid which was easily accessible via metro. I could not have picked a better destination than Madrid, Spain. From the gorgeous architecture and rich history to the vibrant culture. It truly had it all! P.s. it’s always sunny in Madrid.

I cannot say enough good things about the international exchange program. It was truly a once in a lifetime opportunity, so if you are able to, I would definitely recommend it.

I knew I wanted to study abroad when I started university and I had the opportunity to go to Copenhagen Business School. I had an amazing experience, CBS exceeded my expectations. The school held so many fun social events that made it so easy to meet all of the other exchange students. I was able to meet so many new people and make friends from all over the world. It was also really easy to travel throughout Europe once I was abroad; I went to 10 countries throughout my semester, including Germany, Italy, France, and Norway. Denmark was a really friendly and welcoming country that very quickly became my home away from home.

“I really didn’t know what to expect when going on exchange, I knew this would be an experience that would change my life but to what extent? Little did I know that I would make the best friends of my life. Jönköping is beautiful, however, there is not much to do. But I am so appreciative of the city’s simplicity as it allows the exchange students to really get to know each other, take our time to cook together and enjoy the small things. One thing I know for sure is that I will keep these relationships that I’ve made forever.”

Back when I was applying to universities, one of my main requirements was the opportunity to take an exchange semester. When COVID happened, I thought I would never get my chance and was pleasantly surprised when I had the chance to go to Chung-Ang University in Seoul, South Korea. Seoul was a perfect integration into a new culture, language and cuisine, enjoying cultural landmarks, as well as meeting locals and people from other countries while having the motivation to remain studious. This exchange was the best time of my life and I really got to grow as a person through the challenges and experiences.

Going to Lisbon, Portugal for an exchange semester was the best decision I made. I found a home away from home. Amazing people, cultures, food, places and events. I found myself in this wholesome experience. You push your boundaries and learn a lot, while meeting people from all over the world. Truly a life changing journey. Would highly recommend it to every single person thinking about it.

Going on an international exchange was a phenomenal and life changing experience.

I consider myself lucky to meet such an amazing community of fellow exchange students while studying at HvA and living at the Fraijlemaborg residence. (I think I got lucky in the roommate department as well with my roomies Sarah and Mina :)

This opportunity allowed me to gain some more independence, and confidence which is really important while traveling by yourself. Yet I never felt alone since I made such incredible connections and still keep in touch with the friends I made throughout my experience.

From the canals, windmills, museums, tulips and nightlife, Amsterdam was truly a dream come true for me. The city’s perfect mix of grand city vibes and nature as well as their international community makes for an open and welcoming atmosphere!

My experience is just one example of the incredible opportunity that TMU’s International Exchange Program can offer.

To those looking for a semester to remember and are still considering, stop considering and just apply! It could seem like a challenge at first, but it was truly all worth it in the end.

My path to going on exchange wasn’t an easy one. After the pandemic hit I was disappointed that it would be delayed, however now I am super grateful because of the great experience I had! Studying at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore pushed me outside of my comfort zone and I made amazing memories with new lifelong friends. I would definitely recommend that every student take part in a semester abroad! Nora Ismail studied at Nanyang Technological University in Singapore

Ever since first year when I heard about the exchange program, I knew it was an opportunity I needed to take. To strengthen my communication and leadership skills, and get out of my comfort zone! Paris was everything I had dreamed of. I fell in love with the beautiful architecture, the lovely parks and excellent museums. I met fantastic friends at my school IESEG and I was able to go on weekend trips with them, it was always a fun adventure. Overall if you have the chance to do it, I say go for it because you won’t regret it :)

Join us virtually on April 6th from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm EST to celebrate our University’s* new Global Justice & Change (GJC) scholarship program. Opening for applications in fall 2022, the program will provide funded opportunities for students from equity-deserving communities to access in-person or virtual, credit-bearing, global experiences.
The GJC program explores the historic and systemic causes of contemporary global issues from an equity and justice-oriented lens, while providing opportunity for personal, professional and academic growth. To celebrate its launch, we have invited scholars, artists and community leaders to explore what global justice and change means to them.
Amai Kuda et Les Bois will open the event with a song, followed by a roundtable conversation moderated by Dr. Sumie Song and Emma Wright with Dr. Vanessa Andreotti, Canada Research Chair in Race, Inequalities and Global Change at the University of British Columbia and brontë velez, a black-latinx transdisciplinary artist, curator, trickster, educator and wakeworker. Janice Jo Lee will close our celebration with a spoken word performance.
Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to inquire, inspire, and imagine justice and change on a global scale.
