2. Diamonds Are Expensive To Mine: FALSE! Diamonds are not much harder to mine than other gemstones are, especially given the technological advancements of the 20th and 21st centuries which have dramatically reduced the cost of labour across the industry.
3. Diamonds Are A Great Investment: FALSE! When buying a diamond at a retail store, you're typically paying a 50-70% markup, instantly reducing the value of your purchase. The appraisal value provided is mainly useful for insurance, as selling the diamond at that price is unlikely.

These are just a few of the main myths surrounding diamonds that the industry tries to keep alive so that consumers will have something to continue to justify the extremely high price tag for these not so special, not so rare precious gemstones.
