As a part of that, we are hosting our annual CSIOP Mentor Event! Students can take this time to get to know IO professionals and hear about their career journeys. We are lucky to have 12 amazing volunteers this year who can give you advice as you progress. This is an informal event where you can also meet students who share your interests!! It is occurring directly following the CSIOP AGM at the Sheraton Centre at 5:15pm. Students who are attending CPA are welcome to join! If you would like to attend, scan the QR code below!

The Social Perception and Cognition Lab is preparing to conduct a study on how people make different judgments about students’ writing—and to do this, we need help from students like you!
We are currently asking for samples of academic writing from UofT students who have recently completed at least one 400-level psychology course. We would like to show anonymous excerpts from these writing samples to people from outside the UofT community, to help us learn about how people perceive and make decisions about academic writing from students.

If you would like to submit a sample of your writing for us to include in this study, you can do so at the following link:
https://rotman.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_ctEoIZUJTfPdJ5Q
You will be asked to submit a copy of your final paper from a 400-level psych course and answer a few additional questions about yourself. Any information you provide will be completely confidential, and you can remove your name from your paper first if you’d like to remain fully anonymous. Participating in this study will not affect your grade in the course in any way.

If you have any questions about this work, you can get in touch with the graduate researcher leading this project at [email protected]

Thank you,

Hey Life Sci Students! Get ready for possibly the biggest life science collab you’ll see this year! After 2 years, the Art of Science Coffee House is back! Oftentimes, being in university means forgetting about your hobbies and not having enough time to practice what you love. With that being said, this event is aimed at showcasing the various talents (dancing, singing, painting, photography, etc.) that students in the STEM field rarely get to demonstrate and to re-emphasize the importance of maintaining these interests as an active aspect of our lives.

Individual and group performances are all welcome! Refreshments will be provided and the event is free to attend!

Are you interested in supporting undergraduate writing or research on the brain, behavior, and cognition? Do you want to improve your own writing? Consider joining the Inkblot team this year! Inkblot is the official UofT undergraduate journal of psychology and has been publishing student-written articles covering neuroscience, cognitive science, and psychology since 2012. It has been publishing student-written articles since 2012, and is now recruiting for the following positions:

1. Undergraduate Student Editor
2. Layout Director
3. Marketing Director

What are the benefits of joining Inkblot?

Looks great on your CV. Being involved in an undergraduate journal demonstrates your writing skills, time management, initiative, familiarity with the publication process, and your support of research endeavors.
A great way to develop connections with UofT professors outside of the classroom.
Helps improve your writing and research skills. As a member of Inkblot, you will learn to critically evaluate your peers’ literature reviews and primary research papers. This will in turn help improve your own skills in writing coherent and engaging research papers.
Become familiarized with the scientific publication process. If you are considering graduate school, writing and publishing research papers is a large part of it. Familiarizing yourself with the process makes it less daunting for when you have to publish during graduate school.
A great way to appreciate and support peer writing and undergraduate scientific research.

Hello Students,

We would like to inform you about an amazing opportunity to volunteer with the Saturday Program at the UofT St. George campus. The Saturday Program is the largest community outreach program under the U of T Medical Society. Since 1996, we have provided free tutoring and mentorship to high school students in Toronto who may be struggling academically but have demonstrated the desire to explore their potential. We are currently recruiting volunteer tutors and core volunteers for the 2022-2023 session. See below for details!

How does the program work? This year our program will be running completely online using Zoom. On a typical Saturday, high school students receive one-on-one homework help from volunteers in two sessions: 9:30am-11:00am and 12:30pm-2:00pm. During the break from 11:15am-12:15pm, students are engaged in an exciting and informative workshop.

Time commitment: The program start date is January 14, 2023 and will run for 10 Saturday’s thereafter with April 1, 2023 being the last session. To receive CCR recognition, volunteers must attend at least 8 of the 10 sessions, although you are encouraged and expected to attend all 10.

What are the available volunteer roles?

Volunteer tutors: as the title suggests, you will be tutoring a student each Saturday. Tutors are paired with the same student(s) each week to promote rapport and facilitate learning/mentorship.

Core volunteers: assist with program logistics by taking attendance, facilitating workshops, IT help, etc. Core volunteers may also serve as substitute tutors in the event of tutor absence.

If you are interested in volunteering with us, please fill out the volunteer form here:
