Hakizetu Tanzania Organization is a growing non-governmental organization based in Tanzania, dedicated to empowering young women and youths through economic empowerment, and sexual and reproductive health rights 🌍📚 In partnership with Crossroads International, both organizations work together to give community members access to services and education pertaining to sensitive topics like gender-based violence and reproductive health. Though these subject matters can be taboo in smaller communities, Hakizetu facilitates conversations that promote preventative strategies regarding teenage pregnancies and gender discrimination. The resources created through this partnership not only support the well-being of girls in Tanzania today, but the quality of life for the women of tomorrow. Here are some photos of CPA Sans Frontières (CPASF) volunteers in Ivory Coast on a short-term mandate in May. The volunteers supported 'Réseau Ivoirien pour la Défense des Droits de l'Enfant et de la Femme' (RIDDEF), an organization focused on empowering women, and ONG GFM3 Officiel which works to improve education for young girls. 🌍🤝
The mandates have been a great success, and the partners who benefited from them are more than satisfied. 💪✨
This year, we had a group of 12 senior CPAs who carried out mandates in Senegal, Togo, and Ivory Coast, as well as another group of 4 students or CPA candidates who went to Togo. This past May, our Peoples & Culture manager Geralyn Klassen journeyed to Tanzania to visit Crossroads International’s partner organization, Hakizetu Tanzania Organization! 🌍
Dedicated to supporting young women through educational services, economic development, and sexual and reproductive health rights (SRHR), Hakizetu has piloted advocacy initiatives for countless community members.
During her visit to Mwanza, Geralyn connected with multiple colleagues from Hakizetu, and even interviewed participants on the skills they have gained through the organization’s initiatives. Geralyn was also fortunate enough to witness participants graduate from Hakizetu’s 1-year vocational training program! We are so excited to continue our partnership with Hakizetu and generate more gender transformative programs! 🌟

Celebrating Pride Month 🌈
At Crossroads International, we believe in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment for all. Our partner, the Human Rights Action Center - HRAC , has been instrumental in advocating for the rights and safety of marginalized communities in Ghana through the MAPSAFE Project. This initiative aims to combat human rights abuses, stigma, and discrimination against key populations, including the LGBTQ+ community.
Through the MAPSAFE Project, HRAC has developed rapid response mechanisms to support those facing gender-based violence (GBV). The project has empowered local frontliners, built strong community networks, and provided essential services to those in need. These efforts are crucial in creating a safer and more inclusive society.
During this Pride Month, let's celebrate the progress made and continue to support initiatives that promote equality and human rights for all. 🏳️🌈
We hope to see you there!

Celebrating Earth Day 🌍
For Earth Day, we would like to highlight the project of our partner DUNK-Developing Unity Nurturing Knowledge, "Green is the New Black 2.0," which aims to raise awareness about climate change.
As part of this initiative, they have selected 8 young people to accompany them to Germany to meet with institutions focused on environmental sustainability. These young participants will learn sustainable practices and, upon their return to Ghana, they will be inspired to change the world.
Crossroads International is proud to have them as a partner and to see their initiative align with our own.
