Break-Fast is always veggie and protein rich. Avoid sweets as your first meal, opt for savoury and high protein. Makes all the difference (no sugar cravings, no low energy, no need for snacking, etc)

Homegrown broccoli sprouts and .vision SymbioKraut are a must addition too!

Today’s meal includes:
⭐️Leftover tomato sauce (leftover from bday bison meatballs) normally I would opt for a fatty sauce, not 🍅 but leftovers dictated the mood this time 😜

⭐️ tempeh (soaks up sauce real nice)

⭐️Roasted sunchokes, celeriac, squash

⭐️Arugula (any leafy greens added and close the lid so they cook up a lil for easier digestion)

⭐️Sprouts (alive food is always 👌👌)

⭐️Sauerkraut (ferments make everything better)
Check out bio link in .vision or head over to their store online to get some delivered to you!

Yahoo! March 5th The Depanneur Cookbook will finally be released! You’ll love making my favourite childhood cake and 99 other dishes from around the world (100 recipes from 100 amazing talented ppl)!

Saying YES to this epic project was an immediate YES! Len Senater, owner of is an incredible human being and he and The Dep have a special place in my ❤️.

The Dep’s a place “where interesting food things happen” including many cooking classes and dinners that I got to host over the years. It’s a hub where Len gave hundreds of us (chefs, foodies, food enthusiasts, refugees, etc.) a spot to share our love of food in Toronto. Toronto is better because of this special hub. See upcoming events in bio.

Obviously, when I heard that the talented Ksenija Hotic was the photographer for this endeavour, that really sealed the deal for me. She’s an incredible chef and artist herself and has put Bosnian food on the map here. You are seriously in for a real treat with this masterpiece that you’ll be happy to get stains on and show off to your family and friends.

Thank you Simon & Schuster for choosing YES to this incredible masterpiece!

Congrats Len, Ksenija, and all involved! Can’t wait to receive this work of art and get into my kitchen!

Get your copy online or in a store near you!
Amazon, Indigo and other local and online booksellers. You can find a list of bookstores that will be carrying the book on the website.

Did you know eating a variety of up to 30 plants a week is optimal? For many reasons, not just digestion! My fav reason has to do with the microbiome. Your gut thrives and works for you best when it’s got loads of plant variety to feed from! Oh how I love this topic!

When I was a vegan for 7 years (up till 8 years ago) I definitely flexed my plant creativity big time and it’s what began my culinary career. But that was just the catalyst since that was the hype and still is.

While plant based and veganism are unrelated (that’s just marketing confusion), they do have something in common: delicious food! Whole foods is what you want to aim for not labelled food. Afterall labelless food is my preference anyway. I let my body dictate what I eat. It’s different now than what it was 30 years ago, growing up on fast food, processed food, etc. My parents didn’t know better until I was 13 and dad became a nutritionist and my life changed forever. (More on this later). The best part wasn’t just the weight loss and confidence gained but the flavour! Holy *% #! I couldn’t believe how much tastier REAL food is!
Nothing fancy needed, nothing artificial or concentrated or altered or disguised, just good ol’ nature in her finest glory… natural, simple, whole, recognizable by the body as food (not edible food like substance). More on that later too.

And today I prefer food like in this pic, my dinner tonight. It’s satiating, fuels and nourishes me on all levels. And 1/2 of my week’s plants are in this one dish too! (I ate another 15 plants earlier today)

Sautéed greens (my fav combo: Swiss chard, cilantro, dandelion leaves), kimchi (cabbage, onion, apple, garlic), broccoli, and the sauce: ‘s “Caesar marinade” (garlic, lemon, h**p seeds, ACV, chia seeds, capers, green banana, EVOO)
And for extra protein the best eggs ever! My friend’s happy raised chickens lay these incredibly tasty nutrient dense eggs with hard shells, thick whites and dark yolks, the way eggs should be. (Keep your friends close, your farmers closer…more on that later too).

I hope this post was inspiring and motivating enough to open your eyes to what else is possible. Now go eat more greens!

01/28/2024

Simple nourishment is vibrant, fibrous, protein rich and minimal ingredients. Dinner is also lunch today because when it’s this tasty and satisfying it’s a no brainer
Some ideas

Meal prep includes
💫variety of fresh whole proteins ready to quickly cook up (I love Wild trout seared with lemon)
💫 roasting enough veggies to last up 3 days max (I used cauliflower and unpeeled butternut squash)
💫having chopped raw cruciferous ready to steam/sautee/mash on the go (I used broccoli)
💫having a variety of sauces (ie:dips/spreads/dressing) on hand (preferably homemade) to flavour your food (if you must)
💫having a variety of ferments stocked up (my favs are .vision symbiokrauts (Immunechi is my fav) and authentic Kimchi
💫having a variety of sprouts (I like to sprout my own broccoli seeds because the fresher the more alive and nutrient dense)

All great for optimal digestion (therefore awesome 💩)

Thank you everyone for all your love and support this year!

I’m taking a much needed break until 2024.

While I’m unavailable I genuinely wish you all a wonderful rest of your year.

Little (but really powerful and important) reminder to go into this season with:

Whatever goals you have or believe will brew inside you take steps towards them NOW, don’t wait till after the holidays and new year.

You’re worth it to get a head start and show up for yourself NOW! No time to waste, nothing is more important than self love, self care, then you can really show up fully for others (with your cup full).

Selfulness is key to balance and impacts the ripple effect that goes out toward the rest of the world.

Going WITHIN amplifies all that’s external.

Blessings, love and gratitude
