Four Orthodox Crosses - commissioned (not available).

Carving these, I figured out that corners and symmetry must be every carver's red zone. Quite challenging.

I'm currently accepting commissions. You can send me a message or an email at [email protected]

Customized Cooking Spoon - from salvaged cherry wood.
(commissioned; not available)
-
More photos are on my website under "shop".
-
Too many hours of ups and downs is what it took for this one to come to life.
-
The handle was personalized to the customer's request - the symbols carry a lot of meaning to the giftee, but I will abstain from sharing them here.

Whale Tail Bookmark - now available

Entirely hand-carved with knives only on wood that I salvaged from a neighbour.

I decided to keep the line of my original bookmarks going by creating this one. It resembles diving in and being absorbed by a book while reading.

It is now in The Shop on my website, give that a visit or share it with someone.

Note: the design and idea of the bookmark are original, please write to me if you intend to create something similar.

Fresh out of the Lab is my newest piece, the Croissant Pendant.

Entirely hand-carved using one knife only on cherry wood that I collected last summer from my backyard in Ottawa. 2.5cm long.

I don't remember how I decided on what to carve, but I wanted to make something a little different.

It is now available on my website which I invite you to visit.

As always, thank you for following my work.

Tent Bookmark

Entirely hand carved using knives only, on a reclaimed piece of wood. Unknown species.

This bookmark truly is one of a kind, never to be replicated. A great gift to an outdoor-loving bookworm or to yourself.

I was able to whittle the body down to 1mm only with the simplistic design you see. For the patterns, I used the kolrosing technique.

It is available. More details and pictures on my website. Original design. ©

Pine Cone Pendant

My newest carving is now available on my website for you to purchase or contact me about.

Carved from a reclaimed piece (from my neighbour in Banff) of unknown wood species. Finished with my homemade mix of beeswax-linseed oil.

It has been a while since I carved a pendant. I'm quite happy with the outcome here. This cone represents one at an early stage of development, before the it opens up to expose the seeds.

You can zoom in as you wish to look at the details in these pictures.

"...those who learned to collaborate and improvise most effectively have prevailed" ~Charles Darwin
-
The plaque is all done. Commissioned, not available. This to-be gift just makes sense given the recipient.
-
The art is entirely hand-made by kolrosing with a knife on a Manitoba maple cut from .
I had to make an exception to salvaged wood for this project.
-
The knife grooves were filled with ground instant coffee and sealed with an oil-hardwax mix.
-
The phylogenetic tree on the left is a copy of Darwin's original illustration (the only one in his book!).

The plaque is almost done :-)

Sol and Luna Earrings.
Commissioned - not available.

I'm quite happy with how they turned out after finally getting the silver supplies.
I also think that everyone will view them differently. What do you see?
-
For those into the details: entirely hand-carved with knives only from salvaged cherry wood. The details on both were added by kolrosing ("wood tattooing"), I used ground cinnamon.

I'm still fostering one of my favourite pendants, can we please find a good home for it already?

Bear Pendant

On a separate note, I saw my first grizzly bear yesterday at work. She was a big female. Also three black bears and a muskrat!
Today, a red fox!
This is the beginning for many more, as my job is to respond to wildlife sightings in Banff NP. How cool?!

As I work on a couple of commissions with a tight due date, I just wanted to remind you that a few items are still available in my online shop, The Shop.

Sol and Luna (commissioned). Hand-carved from reclaimed dry cherry wood. ~10 hours of carving.

While waiting on supplies to make these into earrings, I might as well drop a post.
(They are separate, but happen to be touching in the photo).

Probably the first time I've incorporated fiction/imagination into my work. Quite a risk with my bad drawing skills, but why not!

Hey friends! It's been a while.
I've had different priorities over the last couple weeks to help me settle into my new town, place, and job. Still without WiFi connection but thought to pop by and say hi.
It's challenging to get the motivation to keep up the business work with so much on my mind and so many bucket list adventures in Banff. But it seems like I'm missing carving lately and very slowly getting back to holding the knife.

Alright, that's all folks, thanks for your support. Have a good one!

26/04/2021

I'm taking a break from posting about new pieces for the next little while.

Entirely hand-carved with a hatchet and a couple knives.

Beautiful grain to this cherry wood right out of my backyard.
I turned some random scribble on the handle into kolrosing, it's looking pretty nice!

You can DM me to claim this spoon. Otherwise I'm gladly keeping it 😁

Signed on the reverse.
