Happy Halloween! 🎃👻 This year we moved our trick-or -treating station to our driveway and out of the trunk of my car! Along with my side dish of healthy fats 🥑, Mokey and I were able to give candy to everyone without: 🎃climbing any stairs 🎃fear of going up to a door without their parents 🎃young infants having to walk up each driveway/stair 🎃standing on a small front porch waiting for candy 🎃being limited of any mobility limitations We hope everyone had a safe and happy Halloween! Another shout out to @homing.ca for distributing the accessible trick or treating signs! #sloth #harleyquinn #flash #accessible #halloween #trickortreat #inclusion
Out of Clinic! ✈️🏖🦞 I’ll be in Prince Edward Island for the next 4 weeks for some much need family time! I’ll returning to @umanahealth August 22, but have an incredible team caring for my patients - be sure to reach out to them if you need some care💚 🎥: The Confederation Bridge is the longest bridge in the world crossing ice-covered water. The toll bridge spans a 12.9 km stretch of the Northumberland Strait connecting Borden-Carleton, Prince Edward Island, to Cape Jourimain, New Brunswick. Finally wore my sauconys for what they are intended for! 👟🏃🏻♀️ I have NEVER been a runner! I find it one of the most difficult activities to. Having @camilamovement with the @umanahealth team last week, and some healthy competition from @physio.felix (surprise surprise), I have now committed myself to training to run 5K or 20 min - which ever comes first! Why now you ask? A few reason why I have decided to take up jogging: A) I can’t chase after my crazy 3 year old with any confidence 🤦🏻♀️ B) I have a weak pelvic floor that could use the challenge! 💦 C) my mental health could use a break from the regular routine, and could benefit from trying something new 🧠 D) let’s face it, I’m getting older and my heart and lungs need to keep up with me! ❤️ E) I would love to have a simple activity to do, anywhere, anytime, anyplace! Im trusting everyone will help keep me accountable! I would love to hear any tips and suggestions for this beginner runner! 🙋🏻♀️ #daytwo #consistency #couchto5k #jog #run #commitment #challenge @sauconycanada
Monkey see, Monkey do! 🙈 My mini me woke up as I was finishing up my good morning yoga session with @josie_goffredo 🧘🏻♀️ “I want to do yoga too!” She said, and so my little one followed her own practice this morning. This is what it is all about! 🙌Teaching healthy habits to benefit her physical and mental health, even at her young precious age. Definitely a proud mamma moment this morning!💕 #minime #teachthemyoung #physical #mental #health #movement #balance #breathe

Have you tried Manual Osteopathy to manage your Headaches & Migraines yet? 🤷🏻♀️ Manual Osteopathy is a gentle hands on treatment that assesses the whole body - this includes your neck, jaw, upper back, mid back, ribs and diaphragm, lower back, hips, pelvis and, even the lower extremities! 🤯 Increased stress and, poor breathing mechanics can cause muscle imbalances of the body which creates compensation pattern that can travel up to our neck causing some of our headaches and migraine symptoms. 👎 Manual Osteopathy will help relax areas of muscle tension and spasms, improve range of motion, increase Parasympathetic Nervous System activity, decrease pain, promote healthy diaphragmatic breathing, and decrease your headaches and migraine episodes👍 If you haven't tried Manual Osteopathy for your headache management what are you waiting for?💚 #manualosteopathy #manualtherapy #balance #relief #painfree #headache #headachefree #migraines #tension #stress #compensation #muscles #cliniclife #kinesiology #healthylifestyle
Had some much needed treatment with our new manual osteopath @yuliyab, in preparation for the @theride2conquer and my long car drive out East next week! 🚴🏾 Reminder to all my patients, I will be away from August 9 for two weeks, returning August 23🏖🦞 - not to worry though, @yuliyab will be covering my shifts and will continue with your treatment plans in my absence!👍 #manualosteopathy #manualosteopath #kinesiology #balance #movement #stretch #posture #relax #ride #prep #vacation #roadtrip #pei
Shoulders!💪 I think many of us have experienced the nagging discomfort that our shoulders can contribute to🙋🏻♀️. This tricky Ball in socket joint requires a team approach of a group of muscles: Supraspinatus, Infraspinatus, Teres Major & Minor, Subscapularis (also know as the Rotator Cuff muscles), as well as the Trapezius, Rhomboid Major & Minor, Deltoids, Pectoralis major & minor. These muscles need to work together in order for our shoulders to move, strengthen and stabilize - pain free!👊 When the ball and socket are not sitting in their neutral position, our movements become more strained, difficult, “crunchy”, and our range of motion can decrease. Our body will jump in and try and support the shoulder, but unfortunately this can lead to muscle compensation causing more strain on the muscles of our neck, upper back, chest and shoulders - leading to increased risk of injury, headaches, shallow breathing and affects our activities of daily living👎 Before you jump into your workout, give your shoulders a little love and warm them up in preparation of your exercises. This will help give them the opportunity to turn on and activate, allowing the shoulder complex to contract and move through their dynamic planes needed in your workout💚. Here are a few simple shoulder warm up exercises to try! BONUS QUESTION: Can you tell which shoulder has been bugging me lately??🤔 #shoulderrehab #shoulderpain #shoulderexercises #strengthen #stabilize #balance #kinesiology #physiotherapy #manualosteopathy #chiropractic #psychotherapy @umanahealth
Back & Buns to start off a Monday! I did a lot of cycling 🚴🏻♀️ , gardening 🧑🌾, crafting🎨 and lounging 🛋 this weekend - all of which kept me in forward flexion🤦🏻♀️. This mornings posterior chain exercises were just what I needed to straighten myself back out💪 What are your go to Posterior Chain Exercises!? Share below! 👇 #kinesiology #physiotherapy #posteriorchain #exercise #posture #back #glutes #delts #traps #getit
Still working on these Push-ups!😳 @kinbycam added some slow, controlled , negative push up professions💪 I personally love these, not only do I have WAY more control - I can isolate my chest, and decrease the “spring” in my push-up, which I usually feel in my shoulders👎. I added in a modified push up to get myself back up to my start position, for an added kick👌 TGIF, give these a try! #kinesiology #physiotherapy #bodyweightexercises #pushups #core #strength #rehab #therapy #cliniclife
TGIF🙌 @kinbycam added some more push-up progressions to the program 😓 Grab a @theraband loop (I used the high resistance for extra help🤦🏻♀️), and give it a try! This progression will add a little bit of support, while still challenging your chest, core strength and control💪. #accountability #motivation #training #pushup #progression #bodyweight #strength #core #goals #consistency #kinesiology #physiotherapy #manualosteopathy #massagetherapy #chiropractic #naturpathicmedicine #holisticnutrition #movewellmoveoften
🌬BREATHING It seems so simple right? It something we do, every minute of every day! However, controlling you breath can have many positive impacts on your body and overall health. Thoracic breathing, or chest breathing happens in the upper portion of our torso, It usually consists of short, quick breaths, that do not fill up our lungs or encourage movement of our diaphragm (whose main purpose is to inhale/exhale!) It can create tension throughout our body, which also activates our sympathetic nervous system (fight or flight), increases stress, and decreases our energy👎 Deep diaphragmatic breathing does the complete opposite! These are slow, full controlled breaths. These deep breaths allow the diaphragm to lower down into your stomach, activating your vagus nerve and parasympathetic nervous system - this means decreased stress, lower anxiety, lowers blood pressure and increased energy👌 Give it a try: 💚Get comfortable. You can lie on your back and place one hand on your belly. 💚Breathe in through your nose, letting your belly fill with air. 💚Breathe out slowly through pursed lips, controlling your exhale 💚Place one hand on your belly, as you breathe in, feel your belly rise. ... 💚exhale and feel your tummy fall 💚 repeat
TGIF Sun Salutation was today’s slow down☀️🧘🏻♀️I love the challenge of trying to control my body through slower movements when my heart and breathing are strong👌 A few added benefits of daily Sun Salutations: 💚 Become centred and grounded 💚 Create focus for your day 💚 Improve flexibility & Strength 💚 Improves digestion 💚 Boosts the immune system 💚 Decrease stress & promote inner peace @umanahealth #kin #manualosteopathy #physiotherapy #slowdown #flow #balance #breath #control #corestrength #peace #movewellmoveoften #poweredbyu
