This year, we decided to invest a bit in AI. We're also working diligently on developing free tools for our clients and prospects. We’re currently focusing on building a file transfer platform. Following this, we'll be developing tools to convert, edit, and create subtitles. Our goal in creating these tools is to bring satisfaction to our clients and appeal to potential new ones
It's no secret: We've poured a lot into IT over the past few years. We've focused on sentence separation : Where captions should be divided ? Should there be a line-break? How many characters should be in a captions bubble, etc. We've also put a lot of effort into encoding captions for TV in North America. Since it's a technology from the 1970s, there's scarce documentation on it, necessitating significant investment. This year, we're continuing at this pace.
Lately, we've been putting a lot of effort into our internal tools, constantly refining them to make them more user-friendly. For instance, we've integrated character limits for each caption bubble, making it easier for freelancers to navigate. Additionally, we've streamlined the timing synchronization process, enabling them to work more efficiently. We've also upgraded the transcription screen to facilitate our translators' work. Our goal is to consistently work with efficiency and speed while prioritizing quality.
Aside from captions quality, delivery speed is also crucial for our clients. You know, most of our clients already receive their videos quite late. Hence, they expect captions to be delivered as swiftly as possible to meet their own clients' needs. This is important because delivering videos without subtitles can cause a 40% loss of views for their clients. That's why we make it a priority to deliver captions on the same day the order is placed. Just so you know, our delivery time averages 6 to 8 hours, even for non-rush orders.
As we strive for ongoing growth, the first half of 2024 will be dedicated to testing the 19 acquisition channels we rolled out earlier this year. We've already experimented with a few since the start of the year and are still testing them all. These channels include: speaking engagements, content marketing, SEO, business development, engineering as marketing, etc. Can't wait to see which ones yield the most clients for ClosedCaptioner.
This year, our focus is on delivering top-notch quality. We now have someone dedicated to quality control. From staffing decisions to the upkeep of subtitle quality, this person leads the way. And it's paying off – our subtitles have shown noticeable improvement in recent weeks, earning us plenty of positive feedback. In fact, some have upped their orders because they’re pleased.
When a customer contacts us, they need assistance promptly, not hours or a day later. That's why our customer service team is dedicated to providing swift responses. We aim to reply within just five minutes of receiving any message. Our customers couldn't be happier with the rapid support they receive!

I learned the hard way by losing $9000 in SousTitreur's first 5 months. Lesson? Always do a Profit and Loss report! But, what does P&L serve for ? It’s a financial statement that summarizes the revenues and expenses information during a specific period. It helps you analyze the financial health of your business, identify areas of strength and weakness and make informed decisions to improve profitability. I made an error by neglecting to do so. But hey, turned that around in 5 months of embracing it. Onwards and upwards! ;-)
