You might recognize some familiar Blizzard faces on the SDLL Lightning! We now have a Sydney district little league female age 7-9 division with a total of 48 female players. We also have 45 in the female tball division and a total of 28 females playing in the various other divisions !!

Its adoption was a recommendation of the Hockey Nova Scotia Diversity & Inclusion Task Force in its final report.

At a wonderful event at Centre 200 on the weekend, Blizzard Hockey was awarded the the Allan Joseph Memorial Award by the Cape Breton Sport Heritage Hall of Fame. The award is presented annually for excellence in island amateur sport.
Members of Blizzard's board were presented with the award during the Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Thank you to Sports Heritage Committee Members led by Carol Miller, Chair, for selecting Blizzard Hockey. Our volunteers, board members, coaches and team officials all appreciate the recognition.

Big congratulations go out to New Minas' Mae Batherson who is the first Nova Scotian to hear her name called at the 2024 PWHL Draft. 📣

Batherson was drafted 33rd overall by the PWHL champion PWHL Minnesota. 🙌

Attention all girls between the ages of 6-10 who are ready to start playing hockey - the Cape Breton Blizzard Hockey First Shift program is back for the fall of 2024!

🚨🚨Registration IS OPEN. Spots are very limited (only 30 spots available!). Here is the link to register: https://www.firstshift.ca/locations/

The welcome event (where you get your gear) will be November 3rd at Membertou. On ice sessions will follow that on weekends throughout November and December.

The NHL/NHLPA First Shift program is open to children between the ages of 6 and 10 years old who have never previously enrolled in minor hockey within Canada or the NHL/NHLPA First Shift program.

Girls who are 11 + ... we will be offering a program for you as well. Follow us on Facebook for upcoming program announcements (registration will open in July).
