Nothing brings me more joy than getting pics like this from a family who purchased ducklings off me. The pure joy they bring melts my heart. Fruit Loops is living the life. ❀️

My Wyandottes are growing so fast. Their beautiful wing feathers are starting to come in. Can’t wait to see them when they are fully feathered.

The next two breeds we added are the Blue Laced Gold Wyandotte and the Lavender Orpington. I wanted pretty chickens that are friendly while also being winter hardy. Welcome to the family girls.

Here comes the chicken spam. The first breed we added to our farm is the Deathlayer. We are adding both silver and gold deathlayers. The Deathlayer chicken lives 8-10 years and lays eggs their entire life unlike most chickens that lay for 4-5 years.

The newest addition to the Webber Farm. Our very first chickens. Stay tuned for more chick spam once they fluff up a bit.

If you love eggs, you will really appreciate this post!
Duck Eggs vs. Chicken Eggs 🍳

Duck eggs are larger in size than chicken eggs. The whites in chicken eggs have a higher water content (more runny) than the whites in duck eggs. Duck eggs have larger yolks and a higher yolk-to-white ratio than chicken eggs.

πŸ¦† Duck eggs are GREAT for baking.
πŸ“ Chicken eggs have thinner shells.
πŸ¦† Duck eggs are larger and richer than πŸ“ chicken eggs.
πŸ“ Chickens are prolific layers year-round if taken care of correctly, but πŸ¦† ducks are as well with much less light necessity.
πŸ¦† Duck eggs stay fresh longer because of their insanely thick shell.
πŸ¦† Duck eggs contain 30% more protein and a different type of protein than πŸ“ chicken eggs, so if allergic to chicken eggs, most can eat duck eggs and vice versa.
Ounce for ounce, πŸ¦† duck eggs contain more Omega-3, Vitamins A and D, fatty acids, choline, folate, and iron than πŸ“ chicken eggs.
πŸ“ Chickens lay well for about 1-2 years, then dramatically start slowing down production, while πŸ¦† ducks lay solid for 4-5 years before they slow down.
πŸ“ Chicken eggs come in a lot more colors but πŸ¦† eggs also come in different colours too.

So there ya have it! To try some duck eggs from our organic feed, free ranging ladies please PM us.

Definitely not where they are supposed to be. Doing a little roosting while mama cleans their brooder.

Our first ever Guinea keets are now just over a week old and thriving.

Exciting day at Webber Family Farms as we hatch our very first Guinea fowl. They are so tiny compared to the geese and ducks were are used to. We also have our last batch of Sebys hatching today too.

Today our family said goodbye to Pikachu our rescue duck. Many of you followed his story which started in January 2023 when he was found all alone outside at only a few weeks old. I took him in and spent months nursing him back to health. I honestly didn’t think he would make it through the first day. He grew into the sweetest boy but because he was a meat bird he struggled with feet issues since he was 6 months old. After many attempts with the vet to treat his foot issues we made the difficult decision to end his suffering. He was no longer enjoying life as a duckie. Thank you to Dr. Brent from Cannington Vet Services who came out this morning to help Pikachu cross over the rainbow bridge. No more suffering my sweet boy. ❀️

Baby goose update. The girls are doing great and getting lots of love and attention.

03/29/2024

After a very long night of checking on them and no progress I made the difficult decision to intervene. I try to be hands off and let nature be nature but with no progress in 24 hours I knew if I didn’t they would likely die in the shell. Glad I helped because both were stuck. Hopefully they thrive over the next few hours. Looks like two girls. I will know for sure when they fluff up.

It is hatch day over here at the Webber Farm. Only two gosling eggs but both are externally pipped and ready to emerge. Stay tuned for gosling spam.

This girl (Cinnamon) has been an absolute angel the last two days. Yesterday morning when I let the ducks out she was slow to come out of the coop and was walking funny. I picked her up to see what was going on and saw an egg stuck partway out. Into the warm bath with epsom salts to help get the egg out. Unfortunately with the egg came some of her oviduct. So treatment to get it back in and stay in has been happening multiple times a day. We are almost back to normal. Hopefully another day of treatment and she will be back to her normal self.

It’s hatching time. Our firsts batch of Sebastopol goslings are due to hatch Easter weekend πŸͺΏπŸ£

The Welsh Harlequin duck was a duck I have loved since we started our duck journey. We added them to our flock two years ago when I was finally able to find some ducklings. These ducks are not only stunning but aside from Pekins are the friendliest breed of duck here. The females have a mallard colour with beautiful purple/green wings and the males have a beautiful green head. They are a small duck laying between 150-300 eggs per year.
