Dear UXCC Members,

We have some exciting news for you! Following the difficult announcement of our closure on April 19th, we are thrilled to present a new opportunity that ensures continued support for all our members. The Whitchurch-Stouffville Chamber of Commerce graciously extends an invitation to all UXCC members to join their vibrant community at no cost for the remainder of the calendar year. After this period, you will have the opportunity to seamlessly transition into their membership structure.

The Whitchurch-Stouffville Chamber of Commerce is a dynamic and engaged pillar in the community, recently hosting a sold-out breakfast event with 200 attendees featuring Ontario’s Finance Minister. This event is a testament to the active, connected, and influential environment that Whitchurch-Stouffville cultivates. It is a place where business and community thrive together, creating numerous opportunities for networking and growth.

Both the Whitchurch-Stouffville and Uxbridge business communities are similar and in close proximity, with many businesses already operating across both districts. This makes the collaboration between our chambers a logical and beneficial move for all involved. The Whitchurch-Stouffville Chamber is ready to welcome you with open arms, ensuring a smooth and effortless integration into their network. They are eager to embrace each of you, providing a new home for your business networking needs and continuing the exposure and opportunities you deserve.

Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to contact us at [email protected] You can also reach out directly to Christian Buhagiar, Executive Director at The Whitchurch-Stouffville Chamber, at [email protected]

This is a copy of the newsletter that went out to past members
As you know, for some time now we the board at the Uxbridge Chamber of Commerce ( UXCC ) have undergone some great challenges and changes in the last 4 years and especially in the last year.

Our greatest concern for the membership has been the lack of engagement and the need for the membership to participate in activities and events. Prior to this period the UXCC was greatly supported by the membership for breakfasts including a lineup of great speakers. The UXCC was thriving with a membership of close to 150 members.

Currently, with the outlook looking progressively dimmer for the UXCC without participation and engagement, we have no other choice but to close. We have not processed any memberships or sponsorships renewal in the fall of 2023 as per our usual early bird. If it was a possibility to get new board members, we were set to send out renewal no later than the end of March of this year. That date has come and gone and to date, we have not received any volunteers of new board members.

We recognize and respect the huge transition and sacrifices a lot of business have had to endure during these unforeseen pivotal times. We have acknowledged the closings of business, selling of businesses and members just having to go find a job to help their businesses and families survive and we have empathized and tried to assist the entire time.
Now with heavy hearts and much sorrow we announce that the remaining executives will not only be leaving the board, with full resignations, but the UXCC is permanently closed and dissolved.
Ideally a completely new start-up board will emerge, along with new engaging members that will take the reigns to re-start the UXCC in the near future.
We have done our do diligence for the last 4.5 years to keep the UXCC as a thriving Chamber Chapter however with our most recent cry for help for the need of nine new board members, in the last year to transition the board, the lack of interest in new volunteer board members, has the current UXCC board with no other choice but to fold and dissolved the Uxbridge Chamber of Commerce.

The UXCC will keep the website up and running for the next few months to honor the business and annual sponsors that were members as of 2023. Your dedication has been much appreciated as well.
As for the 2023 members that have insurance with Keystone Benefits, we are transitioning you over to another chamber chapter and will have a letter email arriving soon for this transition.
We have accomplished much in the UXCC over the years, to having monthly events of bringing members together for monthly breakfasts, networking opportunities, lunch & learns, online discussions, annual Santa Claus parade participation, liaison with BIA and council, and we have sat on numerous committees for almost four decades.

The UXCC Chapter was even mentioned in Pariliment Chambers a few years ago "with great thriving Entrepreneur spirit Uxbridge Chamber is the backbone of the business community" " The Uxbridge Chamber cares about their business community and the residents of the town".

We wish you all a thriving rest of 2024, for you, your business, and your family!

All the best,
UXCC Executive Board.

Happy New Year from Sam, Sherry, Evelyn, and your Pharmasave team! Here are 3 of our top memories/achievements from 2023!

-We celebrated our 15 year anniversary at our Toronto Street location next to the library and our 1 year anniversary at our branch location next to the hospital!
-Our scope expanded to allow pharmacists to assess and prescribe for many common health conditions including UTIs, pink eye, tick bites, and more! This allowed us to provide a new service to our community which increased access to health care for common conditions that can reduce hospital visits.
-You voted us as Uxbridge’s Best Pharmacy for the 9th consecutive year, as well as the Best Pharmacists, and Best Home Health Care once again! We are so humbled to have received these awards and are so appreciative of your continued support of our family owned independent pharmacies!

We’re looking forward to making more memories with you and wish you all success in 2024!

Be well,

Sam

We get asked this a lot...

So, why do we wrap our beef & pork cuts in butcher paper and not in vacuum-packed plastic?

1) Butcher paper can be recycled better than plastic which is always a win.
2)Plastic shrink wrap costs us more $$ at the butcher, so that means we have to increase the cost of what you as the customer pays.

Yes, we have been told hundreds of times that our meat would sell better if the customers could see it in the plastic! This is true, we know that when you can see the cuts of meat, you are more likely to buy it. We still don't like the plastic, just a personal preference. Our butchers are only putting in good cuts of meat, and our meat looks & tastes just as good even though you can't see it until you open it, so you are putting a little more trust when you're buying from us! (And we appreciate this trust)

So, now you know! Do you as a consumer prefer plastic or butcher paper-wrapped meat?

Uxbridge Cares is a fantastic organization. Each winter, they collect for families in need.

Want to help out? Here are checklists for each of the family baskets located at Urban Pantry Restaurant, Axis Chiropractic, Uxbridge Real Estate - The Cindy Wood Team, The Lemonade Stand, and Pharmasave Uxbridge Medical Pharmacy & Home Health Care Centre.

Each basket represents a special family in Uxbridge that needs support this year, and each checklist details the specific items that are needed by that family.

Items can be dropped off to a particular basket during each Basket Partner’s opening hours. Feel free to contact our Basket Partners directly if you have any questions about basket items needed by their families.
