PCo: What do you tell your customers about Chinatown?
PL: Take your time, try to check out all the businesses in the area, cuz you never know what you might find. While we’ve only been here for a year, I feel like it has been one of the most welcoming communities in the city.

PCo: What is your favourite thing about Chinatown?
PL: This merchants series project has been one of my favourite things about Chinatown. While we’re technically the new kid on the block and not your conventional legacy Chinatown business, it has been very heart warming to have these individuals jump in with me to take part in this feature, and this is just a small glimpse of the people behind the businesses. It’s cool to see that no matter how diverse we are, we all have something to offer in the community.

PCo: Any fun tips to share?
PL: If you ever have the chance, chit chat with the senior folks (the OG’s of Chinatown), they have the best stories of what use to take place in these buildings. We’ve had one person who came in to tell us that they got married at the restaurant that our store once was — the Ho Inn, and another person who told us that his family use to own the Ovaltine cafe…you just never know who you could meet and where these stories could go sometimes.

JY: There are so many hidden gems in Chinatown! Go explore them!

PCo: What are some of those favourite gems?

PCo: Do you have any fun facts or tips to share?
JY: [1] Herbal shops in Chinatown have the most selections and best prices in Vancouver. [2] Many celebrated chefs from Chinese Fine Dining [restaurants] will shop in Chinatown for ingredients. [3] is definitely a great museum that carries many stories from the old time in Chinatown Vancouver.
