Goldman Sachs analysts expect the gold price to rise to US$2,500 by the end of 2022. Their reasoning is the following:
- Rising commodity prices in the wake of geopolitical issues globally.
- Russia unable to currently sell their gold reserves thereby increasing supply.
- Strong demand from private customers in Asia.

Where do you expect the gold price by the end of 2022? Let us know in the comments!

Why Opawica is a key player in the Abitibi gold belt.

Since 1901, the Abitibi gold belt has inspired the creation of over 100 mines and the production of over 200 million ounces of gold. Since the 1920s, the belt has been continuously mined and remains one of the largest and best-preserved Neoarchean greenstone belts in the world, making it one of the most economically important metamorphic terranes in the entire world for investors and mining companies.

The Abitibi region hosts Opawica Exploration as one of several key players in the gold mining and exploration category alongside Kirkland Lake Gold, Agnico Eagle , and Vanstar Mining Resources. Opawica

With gold being the most valuable mined mineral in Canada in terms of upward trending production, Opawica holds great potential with three properties (Arrowhead, Bazooka and McWatter) situated along the Abitibi Gold Belt.

First prospecting on the Arrowhead started in 1920 on the major shear zone located in the northern part of the property.

In 1926, the exploration works consisted of prospecting, pitting, trenching and diamond drilling, mainly to test two shear zones containing quartz-carbonate veins with free gold.

Gold values of up to 45.05 g/t were obtained over appreciable widths. Two main veins, designated as A and B, were explored.

This work led to underground exploration that started in 1936. A three-compartment shaft was sunk to a depth of 154 metres. Levels were established at depths of 60.96 m (200 feet), 106.68 m (350 feet) and 152.4 m (500 feet). Drifting and crosscutting were carried out on all three levels on the A and B veins.

The 609.60-metre diamond drilling program carried out in 1929 returned several gold intersections, the highest grading 13.44 g/t Au over three metres. On surface, the A vein was traced over 152.4 metres and gold values of up to 90.45 g/t Au (channel sampling) were obtained over one metre.

In the province of Quebec, more than 40 gold deposits that have produced over 60 million ounces of gold in the past hundred years are associated with the Cadillac fault major structure and its subsidiary faults.

Historical drill holes on Arrowhead completed by SOQUEM, Groupe Minier O and Agnico-Eagle intercepted 40 mineralized zones, and were mostly mineralized with gold, although some zones reported copper and zinc.

These previously mineralized intercepts enhance the property's potential for the following types of mineralization:

1. Gold-rich VMS deposits;
2. VMS deposits, similar to the Louvicourt mine;
3. Gold-rich polymetallic veins, like at the Doyon and Mouska gold mines;
4. Quartz-carbonate auriferous veins associated with regional east-west-trending faults and shear zones, like at the O'Brien, Kewagama, Central-Cadillac, Wood-Cadillac and Lapa mines.

The Arrowhead project is mainly covered by the metavolcanites of the Blake River Group. Strata are oriented east to west and present a subvertical dip. Volcanic and sedimentary rocks form a series of east-west-trending, steeply dipping monoclinal panels. The sequences are separated by longitudinal contacts parallel to the lithologies.

In the southern part of Joannes township, the Cadillac fault runs along an east-west axis over a lateral distance of about 150 kilometres.

The Arrowhead property has commenced its maiden drill program with an initial 5,000m campaign. The drill program is focused on targeting high-quality, multivariate ranked drill targets using GoldSpot Discovery’s proprietary machine learning techniques.

Methodology and Input Data

GoldSpot has compiled and integrated various drill hole legacy data sets, including geological, structural, alteration, mineralogical and geochemical information, which have provided an unprecedented insight into Arrowhead's geology. The interpretation of this updated drill hole database led to a cohesive 3-D model -- geological model, fault network and orebody model -- which has provided the foundation for a drilling exploration strategy at the Arrowhead property.

Key Exploration Features and Gold Targeting

GoldSpot and Opawica interpreted a series of east-trending, mainly sub-vertical, mineralized panels, crosscut and displaced by a late northeast-trending brittle fault. The western and eastern panels extend over a distance of 500 metres and 200 metres, respectively, while depth remains open. Quantitative assessment of gold favourability relative to the geological units, using conditional probabilities, highlighted a primary interest of the felsic tuff and intermediate volcanic rocks. These units are commonly spatially distributed in the vicinity of the mineralized panels.

GoldSpot and Opawica generated gold targets using a smart targeting approach of knowledge-driven and artificial intelligence data-driven methods. The AI data analysis trains machine learning algorithms to predict the presence of gold, using both numeric and interpreted layers on a five m by five m by five m grid cell stack of layers. The integrated results have outlined 20 zones of high-priority drill ready targets and additional targets for general exploration drilling.

We’ve just recently commenced our 2022 exploration program at our second flagship project: the Arrowhead property. Arrowhead is a highly-prospective gold play in the very rich Abitibi region in Quebec and is surrounded by Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd.

Blake Morgan, chief executive officer of Opawica, states: "The Opawica team is thrilled to begin our maiden drill program on the Arrowhead project. The company is well funded and able to quickly move to a phase 2 drill campaign as the results merit. The assays from the recently completed Bazooka property drill program are still pending due to lab staffing delays. The lab has promised to provide the assays to Opawica in the near term, and we look forward to disseminating the results out to our shareholders as soon as possible."

A common challenge for junior exploration companies is their projects being located in remote and hard to get to locations. This is not the case for Opawica Explorations.

When a project is located remotely it can mean the following:

• Property is hard to access. Some require helicopters to get to the land in order to take rock samples and complete exploration.
• There’s no access to water and power which is required for drilling exploration and development of a mine site later on.
• No nearby roads, railways, or ports facilities. Even if a resource is found, it may not be economically nor environmentally feasible to build a mine site.

Opwawica’s Bazooka property however is in a very strategic location. There is road access from the nearest town which is a 10 minute drive. And there are other mine sites and camps in the district meaning access to utilities and facilities should not be an issue.

Opawica has six projects in Newfoundland covering more than 217 square kilometers. The projects are strategically located in the same region as New Found Gold Corp., the small-cap junior turned billion dollar company that sparked the recent Newfoundland Gold Rush.

The six projects in Newfoundland - Chapel Island, Eclipse, Density, Mass, Enterprise, Lil d'Espoir Lake - are situated along and between the Red Indian Line and the Valentine Lake shear zone in the Rogerson structural corridor gold district.

The largest known gold resource along this corridor occurs at Marathon Gold’s (TSX: MOZ) Valentine Lake property to the southwest of Opawica’s project.

Valentine Lake has an estimated Proven and Probable mineral reserves of 1.87 million ounces and total Measured and Indicated mineral resources (inclusive of the mineral reserves) of 3.09 million ounces (54.9 million tonnes at 1.75 g/t Au). Additional Inferred mineral resources are 960,000 ounces.

Opawica’s Arrowhead property is completely surrounded by Agnico Eagle - a major gold producer.

Agnico Eagle produced 875,000+ ounces of gold in 2019 from the Abitibi region.

Agnico’s Mouska mine is eight kilometers to the east of Arrowhead indicating that Opawica’s project is in an extremely positive and strategic location.

Opawica will undertake the maiden drill program at the Arrowhead project and are extremely excited to get started in 2022 in this underexplored region.
