Called โ€œSouth Africaโ€™s Mozartโ€ by Nelson Mandela, jazz musician Abdullah Ibrahim is a living legend. The master pianist and composer comes to the Chan Centre on November 19 as part of a trio.

Ibrahim's music was inseparable from the anti-apartheid movement in his native country. His 1974 recording, โ€œMannenberg โ€“ โ€˜Is where itโ€™s happeningโ€™โ€ was an unofficial national anthem for Black South Africans while his groundbreaking ensemble Ekaya is the Zulu word for โ€œhomeland.โ€ Donโ€™t miss seeing this hero of South Africa.
