Called โSouth Africaโs Mozartโ by Nelson Mandela, jazz musician Abdullah Ibrahim is a living legend. The master pianist and composer comes to the Chan Centre on November 19 as part of a trio.
Ibrahim's music was inseparable from the anti-apartheid movement in his native country. His 1974 recording, โMannenberg โ โIs where itโs happeningโโ was an unofficial national anthem for Black South Africans while his groundbreaking ensemble Ekaya is the Zulu word for โhomeland.โ Donโt miss seeing this hero of South Africa.
