TACO EATING 2022 CHAMPION RETURN’S TO THE RING

Thomas Chang (TC) is a Steveston resident who supports the community merchants by shopping and eating locally. TC is an enthusiastic road cyclist and you will find him on the streets riding to New West or West Van. When he’s not on the road, he will be practicing his badminton shots at one of the many badminton centres in this city. He is also now dabbling with dog shows as he has two Soft Coated Wheaten Terriers that are his pride and joy. More interestingly, he is also known locally as the “Taco Champ (TC)” for eating 25 tacos in 30 minutes and winning the 2022 taco-eating contest held at the Little Mexico Cantina restaurant. After taking an eating break in 2023, TC wishes to reclaim his title this year at the fundraiser in June.

The Ho Ho Ho House has been collection donations for for the last several years! Please consider making a donation if you’re visiting!

Wigs and beyond:
Through the fundraising efforts of generous individuals Wigs for Kids is able to make a big impact on the lives of BC’s Kids and families. Each wig costs roughly $600 - $700 to make, which is 100% donation funded. Wigs For Kids also provides funding for medications and feeding supplies that are not covered by MSP. Recently Wigs For Kids has also begun supporting more initiatives to help the community, funding a volunteer driving program that drives oncology patients and their families to hospital appointments. This helps families who rely on public transit and taxis to get to and from appointments. Wigs For Kids also supports families with travel costs, whether is out of province travel for treatments or those that need to come from outside of the lower mainland for treatment.

Today is a great day for TACOS! Come on down to the at 1pm to watch our 3rd Annual Taco Eating Contest in support of Wigs for Kids BC! This is the final event in the Steveston Wigs for Kids Weekend!

Bring a donation and join in on the fun in the sun! We have 5 contestants battling it out today to see who can eat the most tacos! For the Month of June and July, we are doing a fundraiser for . For our cake giveaways, all donations will be contributed to this charity as well as we have made some special logo sugar cookies. Each cookie is $3.50 and all proceeds will go directly to . For those who don't know, Wigs for Kids' Mission "is to improve the quality of life for kids dealing with cancer or other life-threatening illnesses and to provide a free wig for every B.C. child who needs one." Help support this charity for the month of June and July!

Tickets are just $50 and 100% of your ticket goes directly to the Wigs For Kids BC foundation. This money is used to not only fund for real hair wigs for children with cancer and other life threatening diseases, it’s also covers related expenses for families not financially able to do so. These expenses add up and these families need our help!

All of our taco eating contestants have been working hard to get pledges and raise money for this important cause! We are soooo excited for this year’s turnout and to see who will be crowned the 2023 champ! We look forward to sharing the grand total of this Wigs for Kids Weekend happening this weekend, don’t miss out!

Steveston charity hosting fundraising double-header this weekend Wigs for Kids BC is having a cutathon on Saturday and a taco-eating contest on Sunday in the village

Come join us on June 25th at Little Mexico Cantina for our TACO EATING CONTEST!

There are two ways to join in on the fun! Watch from the exterior side of the patio for free OR buy a VIP pass for $50 which allows you inside access to the restaurant and includes a beer, margarita and 2 tacos! You’ll watch the contest as well!

On site 50/50 tickets will be sold and we will be accepting cash donations for Wigs for Kids BC!

This event is 100% donation based. All proceeds go directly to Wigs for Kids BC, and we hope to see you there.
