$100 cash payable to the Materials front office. If you are an alumni/affiliate, please comment below to figure out an arrangement!
This year for our spring apparel, the undergraduate club has decided to collaborate with PATAGONIA to have fleece sweaters customized with the MTRL branding
The exact product we are ordering is the Classic Synchilla® Fleece Marsupial Pullover in black. We are doing custom embroidery of the MTRL logo, as seen in the attached photo.
The fleeces are being sold for $100 cash, payable at the Materials Engineering front office. When you pay, you will be asked for your name and size, and to specify if you would like Women's or Men's sizing. (Feel free to order as many as you want!) When we get the products in a couple weeks, we will reach out and make sure you receive them.
We are setting a hard deadline of orders to be in by Friday, March 2 so that we can move forward in a timely manner. Please let us know if you have any questions!
******FOR ALUMNI******
We would love to have you sport these sweaters as well! If you want one, please message us and we will try to work something out!

Welcome back to school, MTRL! With a new school year comes a new council, and unfortunately we're running a little short on people this September. There are lots of open positions that we are hoping to fill quickly, which are: Clubroom Manager, E-Week Coordinator, 4th Year/Grad Rep, FIRST TERM 3rd Year Rep, and Second Year Rep(s).
Check your emails for the nomination forms and the election timeline. We are looking forward to welcoming some new and familiar faces this fall!
On behalf of the department and undergraduate club, we'd like to extend a big welcome to all the incoming 2nd year Materials students! We hope you embrace this department and all it has to offer - please message our page if you have any questions!
Our first feature is from a third-year student, Nevin Taylor !
"I am currently working at TIMET – The largest titanium manufacturing company in the world. Most of the titanium we make goes into aerospace, and I have worked directly with the world’s biggest aerospace companies to meet their requests. As a quality engineering co-op, my role is to ensure the titanium we make is free of all defects given that it’ll be used in critical applications. This has involved developing procedures to make new alloys, improving our measuring systems to track important parameters in melting operations, and creating a new method to quantify surface quality using a laser technology. The third year manufacturing course MTRL 340 has been very relevant to my work experience and gave a great background into the industry." https://www.instagram.com/p/BSP0OkIDesO/

This year, aside from voting for your student representatives for the AMS, Board of Governors, and Senate, there are several referenda on the ballot. Three of these referenda have been endorsed by the AMS and the EUS - UBC Materials Engineering encourages you to vote YES to the following:
