I moved to Vancouver from Toronto to start my undergrad at UBC back in 2019. Not having known anybody when I first came to school, I was seeking a community of close friends similar to the group I had while in high school. UBC Sororities was exactly the community I was looking for. When I first joined, I never anticipated one day being the President of this organization, yet here I am reminiscing on my last two years being on Panhellenic Council, coming to the end of my term as President.

I have learned so much this past year as President. I grew to be a strong leader and was able to tackle goals and tasks that were important to me and the Panhellenic community as a whole. I was lucky to have an incredible council of officers who backed me and supported me in all my endeavours, and also made memories and friendships that will last far beyond the years of my undergraduate degree. I am so honoured to have had the opportunity to lead the Panhellenic Council and the greater Panhellenic community this past year.

Outside of UBC Sororities I also work part time as a server. In addition, I volunteer for Camp BUCKO (Burn Camp for Kids in Ontario), which is a not for profit summer camp in Ontario for children who have sustained serious burn injuries. I attended this camp for many years as a child and then began as a volunteer when I was 18. Being a part of the Panhellenic community at UBC has enabled me to connect with so many other incredible women who share similar values to me, and who contribute to their communities in so many stellar ways. I’m so grateful to have served as your President this year! All the best in 2023 💫🥳

Extending a big welcome to all of our newly initiated members! We hope you all had an incredible time as new members. We are so excited to welcome you as active members of UBC Sororities, and our Panhellenic sisterhood. 🫶🏻✨As the saying goes, it’s not just 4 years, it’s for life. 💙

Meet Panhellenic Council: Marketing Department.

Our Vice President Marketing, Lynn, is from Greenwich, Connecticut and is is studying Political Science. Outside of her role on Panhellenic Council, you can find her skiing, playing tennis, or boxing. Her favourite memory from being on Panhellenic Council is seeing the recruitment video come together and working with the rest of the marketing team to create promotional content for recruitment.

Our Director of Community Engagement, Kelsey, is from Yellowknife and is studying Anthropology with a minor in Environment & Society. When she’s not coordinating sponsorships or working with our Promo Team, she can be found crocheting, hiking, shopping, or reading a good book. Her favourite memory from her time with Panhellenic Council is this fall’s Formal Recruitment, and getting to meet all of the new members!

Our Director of Digital Marketing, Madi, is from North Vancouver and is in her senior year studying interdisciplinary Sociology, Psychology, and GRSJ. Outside of UBCS, she works as a TA, as well as in communications roles at UBC Psychology and at BC Children’s Hospital. She also loves cross stitching and raising her dog. Her favourite memories from being a part of Panhellenic Council are the times Council spends together at meetings snacking and reflecting on their busy weeks together.

A special part of joining a sorority is the process of receiving a big - a sister who is already an active member of your chapter. Bigs can serve as incredible mentors, and introduce you to Panhellenic and campus life here at UBC. 🫶🏻✨

Meet Panhellenic Council: Governance & Administration Department.
Our Vice President Governance & Administration, Violet, is from Kimberley, BC. She’s majoring in Classical, Near Eastern, & Religious Studies (CNERS), with a minor in Art History. She also works as an archaeologist!
Our Director of Operations and Internal Communications, Emma, is from Helsinki, Finland. She’s pursuing an Honours degree in History with International Relations. She’s the co-owner of a startup company, an editor for the Journal of Historical Studies, a proud dog owner, and has recently taken up pilates!

We asked Emma and Violet about their favourite parts about working with one another, and here’s what they had to say ⬇️

Emma: “Violet is just such an amazing person who always has a calming friendly personality which is infectious! She’s very down to earth and cool to work with.”
Violet: “My favourite part about working with Emma is seeing her ability to adapt to new things! I always feel so inspired by that.”

Meet Panhellenic Council: Finance x Membership Experience Departments.

Our Vice President Finance, Linda, is an Honours English student also completing a minor in Commerce, from Richmond, BC. Outside of UBCS, she serves as the AVP Finance for the AMS, VP Marketing for APO, and is a member of the Student Alumni Council (SAC) at UBC. Her favourite part of her role as our VPF is working with others in UBCS, as well as getting the chance to learn more about finances and our financial processes.

Our Vice President Membership Experience, Julia, is an Urban Forestry student from the Sunshine Coast. Outside of her role with UBCS, she works at the UBC Farm, serves as the President of UBC’s Botany Club, volunteers weekly at Sprouts, and as the Philanthropy Assistant for Kappa Kappa Gamma. She is a member of UBC’s Pottery Club as well as several intramural sports teams – including volleyball, hockey, and soccer! Her favourite part of her role as our VPME is having the ability to collaborate with diverse groups on campus to host educational workshops and events for our Panhellenic community.

Our Director of Events, Rasa, is a Philosophy student from North Vancouver. Outside of her role on Panhellenic Council, she is an active member of UBC’s Philosophy Students’ Association (PhilSA).
When asked about her favourite part of serving as our DE, Rasa shared that she loves being able to plan fun and interactive events for our Panhellenic community and give girls the opportunity to make new connections.

Can you believe it’s been a month since we wrapped up Tours?! We reached out to our Recruitment Department to hear about their favourite memories from Recruitment. Here’s what they had to say:
Caroline (Vice President Recruitment) “My favourite memory from formal recruitment was orientation! I was really nervous about giving a speech in front of all the PNMs, but it ended up going so well. I loved meeting all of the PNMs on that day and it made me super excited for the rest of recruitment to see everyone find their homes at UBC Sororities! 🤩”
Janessa (Director of Recruitment Counsellors) “My favourite memory of Formal Recruitment was definitely spending time with the Recruitment team & making friendship bracelets with a few of the RCs! I loved getting to know all of them better! 🤍”
Ella (Director of Membership) “My favorite memory from Formal Recruitment would be experiencing genuine, happy moments with women across the entire panhellenic community!”
