It was so great to be able to to share about the community we’re nurtured by with a group of families at today. Engaging with folks in our neighborhood community is what it’s all about!!
Leaa and Britt brought over some homemade chive dip with chips, harvested herbs and flowers for the little humans and their families to touch, taste, and smell all the wonderful things that came out of the ground from the farm.
Thanks again for having us! What a treat!

✨Farmer Spotlight✨
Hi, I’m Leaa! I’ve been working on our beautiful little farm since 2021 and am SO excited to be coming back this year as a field lead on Sundays and market coordinator. I love that we grow varieties of veggies I’ve never seen at the grocery store, and finding different ways to enjoy them. I’ve lived in South Vancouver my whole life and am so grateful to be able to service this community by growing ultra-local produce. When I started working with Farmers on 57th, I was a complete newbie to gardening. It has been so fun to learn all different kinds of things, from seedling care to field prep to harvest and fall clean up. I have learned a lot from the guidance of my peers and from all the (MANY) mistakes I have made throughout the seasons. It’s wonderful to have a place to learn and play among a supportive community. I’m looking forward to seeing our members every Tuesday afternoon when we do our veggie pickup! If you see me around, please say hi :)
Interested in farming with us? We’re currently hiring! Link in bio 🌱
🌽 Keen so start your own ecological farm but not sure where to begin? We’re hiring!
I’m Britt 👋 last year after graduating uni, I officially started my farming journey. I wanted to get some experience at a farm where I could not only be near to family & friends, but also be a part of a community. I came to Farmers On 57th, green as a bean, and was immediately welcomed into the George Pearson/Dogwood/Marpole community. What I loved about it was that not only was I made to feel at home, but I also felt safe to make mistakes. And boy did I make them. From pulling plants that I thought were weeds (👀), to seeding double the amount of cabbages because I forgot to keep a record 😬 You get the gist. But through it all, I received so much grace, and acquired a wealth of knowledge in this short period of time. S/O to Karen, Hannah, Nicco, and volunteers who were so generous in sharing their knowledge and expertise. 10/10 would recommend. We’re currently looking for a F/T Co-Lead & Program Coordinator, so if you’d like to join our little team, apply via link in bio!

Planning for the City of Vancouver 2024 budget is underway!
Each year, City staff prepare an annual operating and capital budget for City Council to consider. The City is now seeking public input on where they should spend tax dollars as well as ideas on how to balance the budget.
While food insecurity is a fairly new addition to the municipal governments’ busy policy agenda, with 80% of Canadians living in urban settings, cities are now increasingly challenged to consider food system issues as an important aspect of a community's well being.
Have your voice heard and help us make food security a City of Vancouver budget priority in 2024 by taking a few minutes to complete the survey:
✅ Go to shapeyourcity.ca/budget
✅ Add “Food Security” in the “Other” section of your top five City budget priorities
The survey closes on Sunday, September 17.
