EMV's 2024-25 Main Season opens with the beloved Goldberg Variations by J.S. Bach - with a twist!
Keyboardist and conductor Alexander Weimann's new arrangement of the Variations for baroque ensemble of winds, strings, and harpsichord will be premiered by the Pacific Baroque Orchestra.

Don't miss the early music ensemble Siglo de Oro here in Vancouver on September 13!
A few days ago an article in the Vancouver Sun reported that some visitors are coming to town : the British vocal ensemble Siglo de Oro will start their tour of the Pacific Northwest in Vancouver.
For their concert at St James' the immaculate voices of Siglo de Oro present a vibrant programme of Renaissance music by composers such as William Daman, John Sheppard, Jean Mouton, John Browne, Thomas Tallis, Martin Peerson, Vicente Lusitano, Jacobus Clemens non Papa, and the eclectic composer 'Anonymous,' as well as contemporary compositions by Herbert Howells, Kerensa Briggs, Derri Joseph Lewis, and Arvo Pärt.

Tomorrow - some of Schubert and Schumann's most beloved works, including Dichterliebe and Ständchen, performed by up-and-coming baritone Grunwald.

Finnish-born flautist Soile Stratkauskas leads our Summer Festival concert Bach & French Flair!
The leading Baroque flautist on the Canadian West Coast, Soile will play a variety of works by Bach, Rameau, and Telemann alongside violin, gamba, and harpsichord on August 7.

We're still buzzing from our third-annual fundraising gala, Rondeau in the Garden! 🌺 ⭐
With a goal of raising of $85,000 for EMV's upcoming 55th Anniversary in 2025 and a West Coast tour for our in-house orchestra Pacific Baroque Orchestra, the evening ended with the amazing final result of $187,664.

Announcing our winners of the 2024 Emerging Artist Competition!
⭐️ First Place Winner:Eliot X Dios won first prize for his reconstruction of the famous ballet The Rite of Spring by Igor Stravinsky, by using programmatic pieces by baroque composers, arrangements and new compositions in baroque style.
⭐️ Second Place Winner: Violist Marina Eichberg's second-place winning project focused on string quartet music written in the second half of the 18th century.
⭐️ Second Place Winner: Alex Bjarne Belser won third place for his project that explored the lesser known wind instruments of early music and their repertoire.

Early Music Vancouver's second annual Emerging Artist Competition is open for creative and forward-thinking individuals.
Applicants are asked to create a musical project based on what they think the next generation of early music might look like, and are encouraged to include creative ways to present early music with a focus on issues that are important to them. Emerging early music artists who are 30 years of age or younger can apply by sending a 3-5 minute audio or video file to [email protected].
First Place Winner: A $2000 cash prize
Second Place Winner: A $1000 cash prize
Third Place Winner: A $500 cash prize
All winners to be featured on EMV's website & social media platforms

Matthias Maute leads Early Music Vancouver's Handel: Hallelujah & Trumpets! on March 24 — Stir Ensemble Caprice and Ensemble ArtChoral perform works by the famed 18th-century German-British composer
We had so much fun with Myriam Leblanc Soprano and Ensemble Mirabilia at their February concert L'Eterno Ritorno!
This concert explored the fiery and suggestive character of the Baroque chaconne and included pieces by Strozzi, Monteverdi, and even The Beatles.
