The Desert Boot in Day Market—a cognac-hued boot with contrast ties, the combination reflecting the Khan el-Khalili at its busiest.
Nathan Clark, also renowned for the creation of the Wallabee, first discovered the Desert Boot in Cairo’s Khan el-Khalili bazaar. He then brought it back to England where his family’s 125 year-old footwear company—Padmore & Barnes—crafted this style for the local market from the ‘50s until today.
Meet the P404 Desert Boot, a limited-edition footwear collaboration with Padmore & Barnes.
With roots traced back to Egypt, Kotn and Padmore & Barnes share an origins story. From the first seed planted in Egypt, Kotn started with the smallholder cotton farmers we work with to this day. In Cairo’s Khan el-Khalili bazaar, not far from where the cotton for our collection is grown, the Desert Boot—this collaboration's storied style—was first discovered.
Introducing Kotn x Padmore & Barnes: an homage to that origin story—to the places and people that started it all.

We aim to only create what we need—lasting quality items at fair prices, which positively impact the communities who make them. That’s why we skip the biggest sale of the year on Black Friday, a day that promotes the kind of practices we strive to avoid.
But it’s not a perfect science and sometimes we make (a bit) too much. In which case, we pay it forward to you. The Thank You Sale: a token of our appreciation for your belief in what we do.
While we make strides to produce more responsibly every season, we hope you'll shop responsibly, too, investing in items because you’ll wear them for years, not just because they’re on sale. ko.tn/fbsale

Toronto, you’re invited! This December, we’re curating a space dedicated to the best part of the holidays: gathering with our community. From exclusive and archived styles up to 75% off, custom on-site screen printing, and a curated assortment of goods from local brands, we’re filling our space with items and experiences you won’t want to miss.
For one weekend only, meet us at Kotn Square. Full details at kotn.com/square
From all of us at Kotn, thank you! From Friday through Tuesday, we raised enough to fund the build-out and operations of five more schools in the villages where our cotton is grown—a goal that would never have been realized without you. By providing this access to education and practical life skills, your purchases will directly help to build a sustainable future for these children and their families.
This win aligns with one of our most treasured core values: community. We believe that collaboration is the key to creating true impact and we are so proud of how our entire community came together to help us spread the power of education in a place that means so much to us but might be foreign to you.
The work doesn’t end here: as we did before this weekend, we’ll continue to reinvest a portion from every sale to fund even more schools. We can’t wait to have you on that journey.
Love,
The Kotn Team
Since 2017, we’ve reinvested 100% of our Black Friday proceeds to help build a sustainable future for the communities that grow our cotton. To celebrate our fifth anniversary of doing so, we’ve collaborated with a group of artists we admire to create a limited-edition collection inspired by what a lasting community means to them.
Along with all our products, until Tuesday, 100% of proceeds will be donated to build five schools.
Artwork created by Lilian Martinez (), Ryan Vincente Lee Grees (), Luis Mora (), and Julia GR (.r_julia). Available while quantities last, in-stores and at ko.tn/black-friday-2021!
Today, we’re not going on sale. Instead, for the fifth year in a row, over the next five days, we’re donating 100% of proceeds from every one of your orders, up to $250,000 CAD, to fund and build five primary schools in rural Egypt, where the cotton for our collections is grown.
As a thank you for supporting our mission, you’ll receive $25 off your next order when you shop! Visit ko.tn/black-friday-2021 for details.
Today through Tuesday, join us by buying into something bigger.
According to the UN, education is the key to escaping intergenerational poverty and socio-economic growth, yet 260 million children in the world still don't have the opportunity to get an education, and many millions more don't have access to quality or higher education. This perpetual cycle contributes to a classist imblance seen globally, tipping the opportunity scales in favour of those born into opportunity.
Tomorrow through Giving Tuesday, we're hoping to break that cycle for our farming communities, donating 100% of our orders' proceeds to fund education—in doing so, creating opportunity. Starting at midnight tonight, join us to use your dollars to make a difference. ko.tn/black-friday-2021
Black Friday and Cyber Monday are amongst the world's largest pollutants. Fueling hyper-discount culture, they’ve led to the overproduction and overconsumption of goods. So instead of going on sale this Black Friday, we’re funding education.
Over the last four years, we’ve donated 100% of our Black Friday weekend’s proceeds towards building schools in rural Egypt, where the cotton for our collections is grown. For the 5th year, this Black Friday through Giving Tuesday, over 5 days, every order will fund the build-out and operations of 5 more schools, up to $250,000 CAD.
Join us from November 26th to November 30th: 5 years, 5 days, 5 schools. ko.tn/black-friday-2021
