Brand strategy, messaging and identity for Tourism Cowichan

We spent quality time with the people of Cowichan to understand their perspective. To discover their take on the world. To get inside their heads and their homes. Their artisan studios, restaurants, farms and heritage too. Warmth and simplicity guided us back to the Loki studio. It also fuelled our ideas. It shone a light down a pathway to something simpler, analogue and more straightforward. Somewhere genuine and intuitive - an approach to life enjoyed by the Cowichan communities. For real. Every day. It’s not a marketing gimmick or a profit-driven privileged premium. You don’t have to pay extra for this sort of simplicity, you just have to turn up. Warm your heart in Cowichan.

Strategy and Identity for new specialty liquor store coming to Vancouver this summer. The smarter thinking, better drinking liquor store.

We recently had the pleasure of working closely with Hiy̓ám̓ Housing and members of the Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw (Squamish Nation) to create an new brand identity for Hiy̓ám̓ Housing.

Hiy̓ám̓ Housing is the not-for-profit organization mandated to lead the development and management of non-profit affordable housing for the Squamish People.

Thanks to Khelsilem Tl’aḵwasik̓an for elevating our idea into words:

“In the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh worldview, cycles of four are used frequently to represent balance. The icon for Hiy̓ám̓ Housing represents the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh value of four. It tells the story of the four directions our people currently reside in but also the work to bring the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh home from all directions. It represents the four stages of life of the Squamish People, the four seasons, the four wind directions and the work to provide safe, secure, affordable housing across all generations of our people and families.”

And a special thanks to Johnathon Strebly for his support throughout our process.

Brand development for Country Meat & Deli. Linked to the past and looking to the future; the hand drawn custom logo is inspired by hand painted shop fronts from a bygone area in Great Britain where the family business originated. The logo layout is inspired by their Great Grandfather’s branded horse cart from 1931. The Country Meat & Deli rebrand honours the lives and legacies of generations of the Jowett family.

Brand identity and key messaging for OneCity Vancouver

OneCity Vancouver is a progressive municipal party advocating for a new direction for Vancouver – a city strengthened through equity, affordability, and diversity.

We worked closely with OneCity Vancouver to create an energetic and bold identity nicknamed 'Velocity' that reflects the passion, drive and commitment of their team, candidates and members.

Colour played a big part in the brand identity system as the party looked to stand out and differentiate themselves from other organizations - to be accessible and memorable to local communities and people of all walks of life. The new brand identity and messaging encapsulates the vitality and power of the diverse group of people and beliefs that make up OneCity Vancouver.
