Take care of yourself. The delicate balance of wanting to stay informed and loosing our sense of self is incredibly fragile at the moment. Tuning into your own need for rest, self-care, and well-being is a crucial part of activism. It’s a way to remain present, connected and committed.

It’s that base layer before everything else. It goes… body butter, un**es, jewelry. The rest is optional 😉.
Name something you do in the morning that is non-negotiable. We’ll go first: a 10 min stretch and a tall glass of room temp water.
Learning to put language to the sensations in our bodies ultimately helps us understand and give language to our feelings.
The brain and body systems are interconnected in processing emotions via the hormones, the nervous system, and the immune system.
We understand from experience the impact our emotions can have on our thoughts, our physical condition, and our relationship with self and others.
You may even be feeling the impacts of stress, grief and loss in the present moment. Can you notice how it feels in your body? Can you use the list to locate and name the sensation without judgement? If so, pause there and take 30 deep breaths. See what you notice….
Rest is a skill that needs to be practiced. The more you practice the better at it you become.
Our relationship to rest has changed. Downtime is undervalued in today’s busy, always-on world. But for most of human history, rest – time in which we can recharge the mental and physical batteries we use while labouring – was prized as a gift.
It’s time to take rest seriously. Rest is like breathing or running. On the one hand, it’s completely natural; on the other hand, it’s something you can learn to do better and, in so doing, you’ll more effectively harness its power to benefit other aspects of your life.

There’s a proverb that says,
“Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgiving, turn routine jobs into joy, and change ordinary opportunities into blessings.”
In its simplest form, gratitude refers to a ‘state of thankfulness’ or a ‘state of being grateful’.
Gratitude in all forms is associated with happiness. Whether we say ‘thank you’ to someone or receive the same from others, the feeling it brings is that of pure satisfaction and encouragement. Expressions of gratitude help in building and sustaining long term relationships, deal with adversities and bounce back from them with strength and motivation.
The connection between gratitude and happiness is multi-dimensional. Expressing gratitude not only to others but also to ourselves, induces positive emotions, primarily happiness. By producing feelings of pleasure and contentment, gratitude impacts on our overall health and wellbeing as well.
On this Canadian thanksgiving holiday we’re grateful for our Kunye community and the like-minded individuals seeking to live a slows and more intentional life.

Where do you keep your lip balm?
Dopamine is a feel-good neurotransmitter that is part of our brain's pleasure, reward, and reinforcement system. It plays a crucial role in boosting and regulating our moods.
When we engage in pleasurable activities our brain releases dopamine. This sense of pleasure reinforces the behavior, encouraging us to do it again.
Tools like social media are designed to release tiny drips of dopamine constantly. And while we might feel a boost in our mood, the long-term effects can be harmful. The good news is that there are tons of no-tech, natural ways to boost dopamine for the same sense of gratification with better and more holistic returns on the time and energy investment.
