DMM - Langara Digital Media Marketing Club
All we need is WOW
There is no question about the efficiency and importance of marketing for every company, but we all know that this service needs an investment. 💰
The cost of this marketing investment is called “Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC).” 🧑🏽🦰
On the other hand, once a company acquires a new client, this person starts to generate revenue for the business. The value that this new client adds to the company throughout their journey within it is called “Customer Lifetime Value (CLTV).” 🧑🏽🦰💰
With this information, the company can have an important metric to know the efficiency of the marketing investment. 📈
In terms of numbers, the CLTV must be larger than the CAC, which means that CLTV/CAC must be at least 1. If this number is lower than 1, the company is spending more to capture a new client than the value the client is generating for the business. 🤯

What is CTR and why use it?
Metrics are one of the best things about Digital Marketing as we can effectively measure the success of a campaign.
Click Through Rate (CTR) is one of these metrics. It measures the number of clicks on advertisers per number of impressions.
The number of clicks is how many users clicked the link of the advertising.
The number of impressions is the total of users who viewed the link (on email campaigns, for example, this number would be the total of email recipients).
Measure the CTR is essential to have a high Quality Score, which allows you to improve or maintain an ad position for lower costs. It also means that people are attracted by advertising.
The CTR of a company will vary by industry. For example, the average CTR of Real Estate for 2022 was 7.75%; Beauty and Personal Care 5.44%; and Travel 8.54%, according to WordStream. Knowing your industry’s CTR benchmark can help you set realistic expectations for ad campaigns.
What do you think about those metrics? Let us know in the comments 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

Using SuperBowl as a way of advertising? 🏉🏈🏉
More than 100 million people are expected to watch Kansas City Chiefs versus Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday, 12, in the most exciting event for football fans: the Super Bowl.
And this game is also interesting for marketers. Many brands use the moment as an opportunity to lunch their greatest campaigns.
However, they must be cautious. The National Football League (NFL) trademarked the term “Super Bowl” in 1969, together with “Super Sunday”, “Gameday”, “Back to Football”, and “1st and GOAL”.
Thus, if you are thinking to use Super Bowl as a way of advertising, remember to:
- Do not use words as Super Bowl and Super Sunday. Instead, you can use something like “The Big Game” or generic football terms.
- Avoid using football players' names, team names and logos, or NFL logo.
- Prefer to add further information such as “Not an official Sponsor of the NFL”.

Instagram is one of the favorite social media platforms worldwide, being used for different purposes.
More and more companies and personalities are sharing their contents through this powerful media, and knowing how the Instagram algorithms work is the most effective way to deliver your message.
Here are some facts:
#1 Instagram has multiple algorithms.
The algorithm from Feed, IGTV, Explore Page and Reels are different, but they all work with the same purpose of delivering content that users are most likely to enjoy. The feed algorithm, for example, calculates the “score of interest” based on the characteristics of the post (picture or video, number of likes, subject), information about the person who posted it (follower? They post often?), what type of content the user normally engages with, and how often the user interacts with the poster.
#2 Timeliness is not always considered.
The Instagram feed is mostly chronological, but it can vary depending on how the algorithm interprets. If it determines that the post has a higher score of interest for that user, it will be shown ahead of a more recent one. But if this post is getting too old, the feed will favor newer posts instead.
#3 Algorithms do not differ account types.
Personal, business and creator accounts are treated equally. It means that the type of account you have does not matter. Your content will perform the same way. However, switching your account to Business allows you to have more insights on how your content is performing.
#4 The first 30 minutes do not determine the ranking.
In the first 30 minutes, the number of interactions in a post will not determine feed ranking.
But still a good idea to share your posts in a time frame that your audience is more likely to engage. Another thing that does not count as interaction is bots and comment pods. Fake interactions are always identified by the platform.

The term “branding” is usually associated with companies or corporations, but this tactic is also important for individuals who want to succeed in their careers.
If you are an entrepreneur or are searching for new job opportunities, working on your personal branding is essential to earn credibility and trust.
To build up a strong brand, you must show your audience expert knowledge, an authentic personality, and a unique view or approach that differentiates you from others in the same field.
With technology and social media, we can easily create interesting and innovative content to share with our public.
But remember: your personal brand reflects your identity, values, and beliefs. Never try to show something that doesn’t represent you. Be true to your audience and yourself!
Giving voice to a brand is what captivates and engages an audience. And nothing works better to achieve this goal than telling a strong, meaningful, and authentic story.
Storytelling is the heart of a successful social media marketing strategy. It is what increases interest, understanding, and engagement.
Today, more than ever, society connects better with what is truly real. How did you come up with your brand idea? What is its mission? When was your business started? Who is behind it, and what are these people’s values?
Some of the technics that can help to build a compelling story for a brand are the “Before-After-Bridge” and “AIDA”.
Can you remember a great story that made you feel connected and motivated by the brand? Let us know in the comments 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻😊

To truly connect with clients, companies must turn themselves into more human brands. But how can they do that? Here are some methods:
1. Find the right archetype – recognize if the company is a lover, a hero, or an innocent, for example, enable to link the brand with a human personality to help consumers to identify themselves with the company.
2. Elaborate an empathy map – a great tool to collect and organize data about customers to better understand what the target market needs.
3. Practice the Hero’s Journey – brands must remember that each client is living their own story, in which they are the hero. And it is the company’s responsibility to help them to win the day, by providing solutions to everyday problems.

Today is Black Friday, so we would like to share campaigns that worked well or did not.
1️⃣ In The New York Times on November 25th, Patagonia launched the iconic "Don't Buy This Jacket" campaign. Though the campaign was against consumerism, it helped the brand get stronger as it was transmitting its values.
2️⃣ On the other hand, O2, a British telecommunications company, failed on Black Friday due to a lack of passion and enthusiasm. O2's campaign "Grab the Huawei P10 and claim a free MediaPad T3 8 this Black Friday" got just four retweets even with more than 300K followers.
Having a quick look at these examples, we can agree on one thing:
A brand's true value is the best way to engage customers.
Authenticity is the key.
Let us know what you think and what other campaigns you find interesting in the comments...👇🏻🙌🏻😎
For those who couldn't attend to our event on Tuesday, here are some of the important things that we talked about creating strong brands...
Every company needs to sell to survive. But even knowing this, no consumer likes to be treated as a simple tool to get profit.
That is why to build up a strong brand, you need to have well-established what makes your business unique.
How will consumers identify your brand? What is your quality, functionality, and purpose, or what emotions does your brand arouses?
A strong brand develops itself throughout the Golden Circle concept – consumers buy for “why you do it”, instead of for “what you do”, or “how you do it”.
Thus, try to get your brand more human.
Connect with the clients.
Show the brand’s values.
Make them understand and feel the emotions your brand can provoke.
