Are you protecting yourself and your workers on the job? Outdoor workers are at high risk for developing sunburn, eye damage, and skin cancer due to increased exposure to UV Radiation. When possible, it is best to avoid unnecessary exposure of workers to the sun, especially from 11am - 3pm when the UV index is typically highest. Be sure to use protection when the UV index is rated 3 or higher!

You can protect your skin simply by planning ahead!
- Use sunscreen on exposed skin. Apply a waterproof sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30 that protects from both UVA and UVB rays. Re-apply every 2 hours and after sweating.
- Cover your skin using lightweight clothing and a broad brimmed hat. Use UV-blocking sunglasses to protect your eyes.
- Sun Safety isn't just for hot months! Sun damage can occur on cloudy days and in winter too, especially in snow or at high altitudes.
- Regularly check your skin for suspicious spots, sores, and patches. Monitor moles for rapid changes in size, shape, or colour.

Be sure to provide your workers with breaks, shaded areas, and access to water. These precautions will help to curb the number of workers who have adverse reactions to excessive sun exposure!
