Sakura Sunrise gets a proper display case! 🌸🥰 When I was working on Sakura, I kept all the bits together in a clear plastic Ferrero Rocher box. When she was finished I put her back in the box to keep her clean and safe, but it seemed wrong to make something so pretty live in a piece of recycling. I decided the empty chocolate box wasn't good enough anymore; she deserved a proper case. I printed a Japanese scene for the background and cut a sheet of cardstock to put behind it. Sakura is attached to the cardstock with a bobby pin so she can be easily removed if needed. Then I printed and carefully cut out some blossom branches and a copy of the bridge with lanterns. I used a small round metal tool and pressed the petals into my finger one by one to make them a bit softer and rounder (instead of flat and straight) to help them look a little more realistic. I glued the pieces in tiny strategic spots to the underside of the clear lid to give the display a 3D appearance. At some point De'Yonna climbed in there... cats just can't resist a good box. I didn't make the cat for the display but she seems to match the scene and it's nice for Sakura to have a companion. 🥰🐈‍⬛ Sealed with a strip of tape around the edges and poof, discarded chocolate box becomes a beautiful Japanese scene in 3D for my pretty Sakura Sunrise.
