Just a couple of hours until the Norwegian Bliss is back. It's going to be a beautiful night for our tourists here in Victoria. We are getting the store ready and new trainees will be here soon. ❤️

Welcome Miss Bliss! We managed to have the store all sparkly and clean in time to open this afternoon for our first ship of the season. It was a full ship and a busy day. Feeling the good kind of tired! ❤️

Our 3rd Sea Container joining the family. This will replace our Receiving/Pricing area where we used to have a tent, which will be much better in all kinds of weather. The Job Fair is on Saturday and the Vancouver Gift Show on Sunday. Orders are starting to arrive and the warehouse is being deep cleaned and organized. It's beginning to look a little like a New Cruise Season!

Happy New Year! So many of our customers are curious about what we do in the off season. In November, I do inventory and attend to all the things I couldn't get to during the season. Then just before Christmas we take our holidays. Today I am back at work - my pre-season preparation starts with the Gift Shows. This year I am at the Toronto Gift Show, the largest Gift show in Canada. I will spend the next 4 days searching out new treasures, and finding the items that our customers told us they really wanted! Just a few catalogues this morning. I love my job!!!😁

Very few people will understand the feelings we went through 3 years ago and what it took to get through to today. I am standing in our almost empty store at Mayfair and feeling many things. We have come full circle. It was never supposed to be a long term thing, and I am so grateful to Mayfair Shopping Centre for helping us out during Covid. Many of my staff are with us still because of this move. We paid our last Covid debt two weeks ago and we are starting to thrive not just survive. Our main business at the Cruise Terminal feels like it is back to normal. I remember feeling so desperate that day in 2020 in my office when the thought came to me that I could move the store. I am not the same woman now as I was then. And I am grateful for the life lessons learned along the way these past three years. But I'm a little sad that this little part of my story is ending. Goodbye Store M. But you never know - we may pop up again someday.😉

With today's Mask Mandate being lifted in British Columbia, the Beaver Gift Shop is dropping the requirement for customers and staff to wear a mask. It becomes a choice. Whether you wish to wear a mask or you do not you are welcome into our store. Our acrylic barriers remain in place, our hand sanitizer is always available, our daily cleaning protocols and staff healthchecks will also be maintained. We encourage everyone to socially distance wherever possible. Whether it is your smiling face or your smiling eyes, we hope to see you soon!

We urgently need the Government at all levels to listen to this and to take action. We are one of those businesses that is directly affected by the loss of Cruise. We urge our leaders to open the dialogue with the United States.

Today, we join a coalition of Canadian cruise industry businesses and associations who are calling on the Government of Canada to immediately engage with the U.S. federal government to develop a mutually beneficial and responsible approach which addresses the handling of cruise ships in Canadian waters and ports.

Words cannot express my feelings right now. I was at this live event and am grateful for my sunglasses as they hid the tears rolling down my face. We still have to bridge to next April, but this gives us certainty and hope. We cannot wait to welcome that first ship back and I will be standing with my colleagues waving and cheering it in!!!♥️🛳️

I have so many feelings, including sadness. However, at the end of the day, even as I know they are sailing right past us, I am so happy for the crew that are back working, for my colleagues in Alaska that desperately need the revenue and for our Industry that is getting back up and running with great success.♥️
