Curiosity did NOT kill the cat.
Happy International Day of Women and Girls in Science 💗
Happy International Day of ! When Dr. Goodall was a child, she wanted to know where eggs came from, so she snuck into a hen house and waited for hours. Though her mother called the police and was extremely worried, she didn't reprimand Jane when she reemerged. She understood her daughter's curiosity and did everything she could to help it grow.
As Jane has shared, “Isn’t that the making of a little scientist? Curiosity, asking questions, not getting the right answer, deciding to find out for yourself, making a mistake and not giving up and learning patience. It was all there when I was 4 and a half.”
Let's empower, support, and inspire this and the next generations of women in science today and everyday!
✨This is the time of year I always reflect back on the last 365 days. Wow what a year it’s been. I welcomed a baby, sold a practice, bought a clinic, and am now bittersweetly saying ‘see you later’ to our home for the past 6 years! To top it off I am bursting with gratitude for having received top honors in this community 🤩Awww Kelowna, it’s been swell and you treated me well! here we come 🥰
Today is not a holiday, but a day to offer compassion and support to Indigenous Peoples. A day to honour National Truth and Reconciliation Day. Today, we can further our understanding of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s call to action. We can listen to the experiences, hopes, and aspirations of Indigenous peoples. We can learn about the original caretakers of the land by exploring https://native-land.ca/.
I recognize that this is a painful and challenging time. I wear my orange shirt to remember and honour the Indigenous children who were taken from their communities and forced to attend residential schools. I will not forget the countless children who did not return home.
I respectfully acknowledge that I live and work on the traditional, unceded territory of the Okanagan Syilx People.
