HighTechU and JABC deliver hands-on programs in tech and entrepreneurship for high school students to explore several pathways before they choose what career they want to pursue.

This is a great opportunity for you, as an undergrad student, to develop soft and tech skills, build connections, and get a relevant volunteering experience on your resume, while supporting youth.

You don’t need to have any specific background to apply. We’ll train you and you’ll be placed in a multidisciplinary team capable of tackling this awesome program together.

Three teams of aspiring female engineers pitched their best design ideas to a panel of industry professionals and university representatives on a complex engineering problem—how FortisBC could lower energy use in the production of Renewable Natural Gas (RNG) in B.C.

This was a hands on opportunity to experience the exciting, valuable contributions they can make if they continue to pursue careers in engineering.

Do you know how many everyday household objects have become increasingly connected through the internet?

If a project involves designing, building, and testing something, it should probably follow the Engineering Design Process. It is a series of steps that engineers follow to come up with a solution to a problem. Many times the solution involves designing a product (like a machine or computer code) that meets certain criteria and/or accomplishes a certain task.
Here we have the 7 steps of the Engineering Design Process.

Electrical engineering forms the starting point of innovations in many industries including healthcare, transport, robotics, and construction. This field forms the backbone of technological innovation. Studying electrical engineering will help students impact the lives of millions of people across the globe.
Electrical engineers are involved in designing, developing, testing, and supervising the manufacture of electrical equipment, such as robots, radar and navigation systems, electric motors, power generation equipment, or communications systems.
In short, electrical engineers help keep our world running. From the tiny microchips inside our cell phones to large aircraft electrical systems, electrical engineers not only create these devices and navigation systems but keep them running smoothly.
