Tomorrow is my birthday. I’ll be 44 years old and I look my age. ✌️
Aging is a natural process. From a very young age, we are all indoctrinated to the idea that ageing is something to fight against. Something to be ashamed of. Something that we try to stop.
I fight against this, embracing ageing as a right of passage to lead me to new opportunities, to open my eyes to the wonders of the world. With every line on my face appearing as a badge of honour for years of expressions in reaction to the world.

I don’t want to erase the lines on my face, I’m proud of them. I earned them.

Today is National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day that honours the survivors of the residential school system and the children who never made it home. ⁠

The first step towards reconciliation is education. Learning and commemorating the truths of our history from indigenous knowledge keepers in your area is a great first step.⁠

The next step is action. To honour this day, we will donate $200 to the IRSSS (The Indian Residential School Survivors Society), a local organization that provides essential services to residential school survivors and families experiencing intergenerational trauma.⁠
