Its been a tough day around here as we said goodbye (for now!) to our Office Manager, Rachael. During her 7 years with ProActive she created a solid foundation of processes, procedures and relationships that will carry on for years to come. She was a bright light when you walk in the door and a shoulder to cry on when that was needed too. Always reliable and eager to solve a problem, she will be dearly missed in the clinic. Rachael, thank you for setting us up for success. We hope to have you back some day soon.and.co

Ryan grew up living in Alberta and was quite involved in many sports, especially competitive swimming and competitive soccer. Having sustained many injuries throughout his athletic endeavours, Ryan was quickly exposed to at a young age and was fascinated at how the human body works.
As physiotherapy combined two of his main interests - sports and human anatomy - Ryan decided to pursue that as a career. He completed his Bachelor of Arts in Human Kinetics at St. Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia. Quickly after that he moved across the world to complete his Doctor of Physiotherapy at Bond University in sunny Gold Coast, Australia. While he was “down unda”, Ryan was presented the opportunity to complete an internship at Stanford University, so he set off for California to work alongside their NCAA athletes.
Upon graduating from his DPT, Ryan headed back to Canada and settled in the beautiful Okanagan, expanding his knowledge and skills within the ever-growing field of physio. Ryan utilizes a patient-centred approach, incorporating education and exercise prescription with his treatments, pushing every client to reach their full potential.
Outside of the clinic, Ryan enjoys exploring the beautiful hiking trails of BC, golfing, soccer, tennis, and his new-found interest of volleyball.

Intra-Muscular Stimulation (IMS) is a system for diagnosing and treating chronic neuropathic induced pain, or nerve-related pain.
By inserting dry needles into shortened, supersensitive muscle bands, a reflex reaction causes the muscle to relax, in turn decreasing pressure on associated tendons and joints, leading to a reduction of inflammation and pain.
is essentially designed to decrease nerve root impingements by decreasing surround muscle spasms that put pressure on the nerve. This helps reduce joint compression and return joints to a normal state of alignment.

The muscles of the floor assist us in our bowel, bladder and sexual functions. When those muscles weaken or are damaged, our ability to perform these functions are affected.
This can result in a variety of conditions and disorders from painful in*******se to incontinence, constipation, back pain and more.
Sometimes painful and often embarrassing, Pelvic Floor Dysfunction can impact us and limit us in performing even the most basic day-to-day tasks.
The good news is that in many cases PFD can be treated without surgery through physiotherapy and a return to a normal, active lifestyle is entirely within reach!
