May 12-18 is National Victims of Crime Week. This year's theme is, "The Power of Collaboration." It is through collaboration with police, courts, community partners and our victim services unit that we are able to support victims of crime with a trauma informed focus to help lessen the impacts of crime and trauma.
The goal of Victims and Survivors of Crime Week is to raise awareness about the issues facing victims of crime and the services, assistance and laws in place to help victims and their families.

This year's theme for International Women's Day is:
Inspire Inclusion.
When we value the importance of inclusion of women and recognize and celebrate women's achievements, knowledge and contributions we forge a better world.
Collectively we let's call out stereotypes, challenge bias and end discrimination.
Inclusion!

This year is no different, in fact we have seen an increase in the need for warm clothing, footwear, and accessories and it is just the beginning of our cold weather season.
We will be having our 6th Annual Clothing Drive this year on Saturday November 25th from 9am-3pm at two locations: White Rock RCMP Detachment and in front of Nature's Fair Market. If you can't make it on November 25th, no worries as we have donation bins located at White Rock Community Centre, Kent Street Activity Centre and White Rock RCMP detachment from November 14th - December 11th!

June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples Day. For generations, many Indigenous groups and communities have celebrated their culture and heritage on June 21 or around that time of year because of the significance of the summer solstice as the longest day of the year.
National Indigenous Peoples Day is an opportunity for Canadians to come together, reflect on and celebrate the rich and unique heritage, traditions, and knowledge of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples.

Today at 11:00 AM, Semiahmoo Chief Harley Chappell will share some of Semiahmoo First Nation's ancient history and stories at P'Quals, the iconic white rock on east beach.
There are events happening throughout the day in local communities to honour the achievements, contributions and resilience of Indigenous Peoples. For more information of what is happening in your area, please see the links below:

Whether out on the water or hiking BC's beautiful mountains, our goal is to be safe and not get stuck or lost; unfortunately the unexpected can happen and when it does, we are fortunate to have South Fraser Search and Rescue. SARS provides search and rescue services throughout the South Fraser region as well as offering assistance throughout BC when a larger incident occurs.
For more information about SARS and their various rescue units as well as being able to see first hand their amazing Command Centre and other cool equipment, be sure to visit our Open House on Saturday, June 10th, from 9:00 am- 3:00 pm.
