Good Afternoon Students & Parents.

In a consistantly changing environment, having life skills is an essential part of being able to meet the challenges of everday life. To help cope with the increasing pace and change of what we know as modern life, students need new life skills such as the ability to deal with stress & frustration. Today's students will have many new changes over the course of life, with associated pressures and the need for flexibility.

Our mission is to help develop these life skills to our students.

Lead with influence and communicate our weekly life skills in your home.

Have a wonderul day.🙂

Week 2

The second level of discipline is: Self-Discipline
Self-discipline is to obey our conscience. It comes as a result of following our parents’ instructions. It’s very important for us to develop a sense of what is right and what is wrong. This sense is a reflection of our beliefs – most of which we learn in our childhood from our parents, teachers, and mentors – and it comes as a result of following the rules.
To have self-discipline is to do what is right without being told or reminded.

This week earn a SILVER STAR by taking keeping our room clean and organized, and earn a GOLD STAR by Doing what is right without being told or reminded!

Parents just let us know what your children have done to earn their stars!

Week 1
The first level of discipline is: Obedience
Obedience is perhaps the key ingredient in discipline. When we are children, we are still developing our idea of what is right and what is wrong. For that reason, we must obey those who know better: Our parents, mentors, and teachers .
We must understand that is their job to guide us and must follow their advice.
Parents, for example, must set and enforce the rules for us to follow.
This week earn a SILVER STAR by Answering “Yes Mom/Dad”, and earn a GOLD STAR by Doing things Immediately!
Parents just let us know what your children have done to earn their stars!

Here are two quick tips to help your shy kid open up.

1. Let them know it's okay to be shy

Our society places a ton of value on being outgoing. It also places a lot of judgment on being shy.

Shy kids are often made even more shy because they feel like something is wrong with them.

So, the first step is to let your child know that it's OKAY to be shy. Let them know nothing is wrong with them, and they're fine the way they are.

Shyness is often linked with insecurity. So if your kid feels
secure with him / herself - they'll be one step closer to opening up.

2. Set goals - and give them rewards for a job well done.

Next, try setting goals with your kid. Tell them that if they talk to X number of kids by the end of the week - you'll get them that toy they really want... or you'll go to a movie... or get ice cream.

You know your kid - so pick a reward that'll really make them eager ;-)

But the true reward is that they'll make friends. And that cool toy will pale in comparison.

Important: If your kid does not reach the goal - have a
conversation about it.

Don't condemn them - but find out why they didn't. And encourage them to do better next time.

Thank them for their effort. Let them know that you understand it isn't easy, but that you appreciate them giving it a shot.

Then, start over the next week!

You know, there's one parenting mistake that nearly every parent has been guilty of - at some point or another.

And that's because it's a hard one to not break!

In fact, it's nearly impossible.

What's the mistake?

Not Being Consistent. (Isn't "consistent" such a nasty word sometimes?)

And why's it so hard not to break?

Because kids are ALWAYS pushing boundaries! ALWAYS!

Every single day.

But today, I'd like to encourage you to get better at this hard task with a simple exercise...

If you have trouble staying consistent, then pick ONE boundary - just ONE - and commit to always enforcing it. Every time.

Just one!

Do it for one week straight. And then add another one.

Then do both for one week straight, and add another one.

Before you know it, you'll have a calm, orderly house. And your kids will respect you because you buckled down... And got consistent!

And as we all know, it's much easier to focus on one thing at a
time... Then getting everything right all at once.

So if you too find yourself making this mistake, try this out. Fixing it could be easier than you ever
thought.

Here's to a great day,

Master Lorne Davidson

Three Powerful Parenting Quotes:

“Your children need your presence more than your presents.”
- Jesse Jackson

“Don’t let yourself become so concerned with raising a good kid that you forget you already have one.” - Glennon Melton

“There is no need to be perfect to inspire others. Let people get inspired by how you deal with your imperfections.”
- Robert Tew

Martial arts is all about overcoming challenges.

And dealing with the fact that we’re not perfect and make
mistakes is a huge part of life.

something kids learn to handle through their training.

Busy families who don't have time
for big family outings... often miss out on the "little things" that bring families together.

They think it's "all or nothing".

Either you go to the park and make a day of it, or it's not worth it.

But singing songs together on the way to the store... a high five and a quick wrestle here and there...and those few minutes before bed time can be just as impactful.

Don't skip the small stuff because you don't have time for the big stuff.

Often, the small stuff is what really counts.

We are extremely excited to announce one of our special guests for our Spring Break Camp. West Coast Exotics will be making 2 appearances for our camps, one for each week so every child gets to experience and interact with the different animals.

At West Coast Exotics BC we believe in teaching kids about the natural world around them. Getting to high five a tarantula and touch or hold snakes and lizards is a great way to get rid of fears and learn about animals in an educational interactive environment.
