Proof of concept for a woodworking equivalent of a jeweler's vise. None of the cuts are super clean as it is a rough draft just to see how it functions but yeah, I'm super pleased with this. Working through the first draft I have a number of things I'm gonna change up slightly on my finished version. Threaded inserts with brass thumb screws to make it all nicey nice and for easy of removing the pegs. The threaded rod will be passing through its own insert cause I think that'll be easier to index and to switch out if ever needed. I've also got the back plate permanently attached on this version and for the final design I'm gonna make it removable. My thinking is that way I'll be able to make a couple different jaws for it with different cut in angles for working on the edges of things. Oak cookie dining table! One quick wipe of @walrusoil and BOOM! The grain in this come through so clearly with the contrasting black resin and I'm glad I went the Sapele route. It stands out yes, but not too much and I like the warmth it adds. Now it's a matter of layering on the Osmo and sending it off to its new home in a few days. Thanks to: @a.t.a_wood_chop_shop for drying this beast @ryverontario @ryverepoxy for your great casting resin @rustydesigncanada for supplying the Walrus juice, pigment and resin Trees R US for starting this whole process and @officialskinnypuppy @leaether_strip_official for keeping me sain through the process 🤘

English Oak Grain Reveal!
It never ceases to amaze me what a little bit of oil will do to a piece of wood.... A rare piece of English Oak from @a.t.a_wood_chop_shop with some outstanding figure and grain patterns. It had that cut off limb which I couldn't bare to remove so I started messing with designs and settled on the rhomboid you see above. Deep undercut edges and the whole thing sanded to 800 just pops 👌 Couple coats of @osmocanada Poly-X Satin Clear and it'll be ready to go. Shout out to @rustydesigncanada and @ryverepoxy @ryverontario for the resin and pigment, that deep purple (mixture of Liquid Fire, Irradescent Blue and Battleship Grey) really brought the whole thing together. Second completion of the day! Surprise it was a Lazy Susan. Big ol' Siberian Elm cookie (24x21 @ 6/4 finished dimensions), purple, clear and just a little silver epoxy and I have what I think 🤔 is a really cool functional centerpiece for a dining table.
