DAVE DUNWOODY MEMORIAL DAY OF FITNESS

A few words from Coach Kim:
For those of you who haven't heard, my dad passed away recently. If you didn't have the pleasure of meeting him, just know he was one of the greats. A straight shooter all around, an incredibly impactful father, and full of wisdom and wit right to the end.

My dad is an alumni of Brentwood Recovery Home (1980) and was proudly 43 years sober at the time of his passing. Brentwood was the catalyst for many wonderful changes in my dad's life.

My dad lived the CrossFit mentality before we even knew it existed. He never complained, he always worked hard and he maintained a growth mindset until his very last day. He was still doing WODs in our gym at 82 years old, and kept moving after that for as long as he could, in whatever way his body allowed.

This Memorial Day of Fitness will be held in his memory and will support Brentwood Recovery Home so they can continue to spark changes in the lives of those who walk through their doors.

ALL EVENT DETAILS:

When: Saturday February 24 @ 9:00am
Doors open @ 8:00am for registration / warm ups. Estimated end time of 1:00pm may change depending on sign ups.

They are partner WODs, baby!
Athletes will sign up in teams of 2 in either the scaled or RX category.

Teams can be male-male, female-female or male-female.
Women will be accommodated 30% on max lifts and events will be tailored for men/women as per usual.

There will be THREE EVENTS TOTAL (we promise, no surprise events this time) and they will be released over the coming days. Look forward to a max lift and two metcons roughly ~10:00 in duration each.

We're looking to raise money for Brentwood Recovery Home
Registration fee is $50.00 per person paid via cash or e transfer to [email protected] however the more the merrier. If you feel inclined to donate more on your behalf, wonderful! If you can't participate day of and want to donate anyway, beautiful! It all helps.

There are prizes to be won!
Prizes will be presented to the winners of both the scaled and RX categories, with a little something fun for 2nd and 3rd place as well.

Teens, climb aboard.
Teens ages 14+ are welcome to participate in our scaled division. Weight prescriptions will be given based off age group following the CrossFit Open protocol. Get your feet wet in a fun little throw down!

This fun partner throw down is an open invitation.
You don't need to be a member of WCF in order to participate. Teams from other gyms are welcome to join in on the fun!

Are you a scaled or RX athlete?
RX athletes should have sound technique in the power clean, front squat and basic gymnastics (chest to bar, toes to bar, wall walks, etc) and be able to perform double unders. If any of this sounds tricky, sign up under scaled. If you are unsure, ask Coach Kim!

Enlarged thought was for Kant, the opposite of a narrow-minded spirit; it was a way of thinking which managed to disregard the subjective private conditions of the individual life so as to arrive at an understanding of others. Hi everyone,
Spectrum Spanish Tutoring is now offering vacation- specific Spanish crash courses. This is an 8 week course designed to improve your next trip down South with Spanish skills to make your vacation more fun and meaningful. It is not a fluency course, rather a way of teaching enough Spanish to help you navigate around as well as speak with the taxi drivers, resort staff, new local friends, etc.
The course is $320 and includes:
1) A private lesson each week for 1-1.5 hours (depends on the amount of people in the group)
2) Free access to our weekly conversation nights with native speakers to help develop your listening ear and comprehension
3) Specific homework and extra material given between classes
4) 24/7 access to me, your teacher, for extra explanations, clarifications, questions and fun shares
5) Inclusion into our student, teacher and native speaker chat on WhatsApp where you can read natural Spanish conversation, learn new songs, see great resources, etc!
Course runs in person or online (depends on which group you prefer as both can run simultaneously) for 8 weeks from Sat. Feb. 4th - March 25th. Program really only works if you attend all the classes maybe with one exception.
There will be other courses starting, running the same way every 4 weeks, different time or different day/time. So the next one will be in March. Please message if you are interested in either of these two or a future one. You can search out our site by our name or our SM accounts.
