Big thank you to my cousin April, and the staff and students at Walkerville Collegiate Institute for inviting me to come out and lead a yoga class during their Mental Health Awareness Week!
This class was open to both staff and students and I must say we had almost an equal balance of both who attended. We had 30 minutes, so my goal for this class was to keep the sequence simple, focussing on basic strength and restorative postures, and basic breath work, to help create some movement, increase self awareness, and provide a moment for them to just slow down, reconnect, and recharge.
I left really loving this class, and I think it’s because it was such a clear example that it doesn’t really matter how old you are, who you think you are, or even what situation you’re in, we all benefit when we can stop, take a breath, reconnect, and balance out our energy.
Thank you again for inviting me out April and for always being an inspiring educator in my life and career🌞
Pay attention to what you’re watering. What do you want to see grow?
I think any passionate educator would agree😊❤️

Hi everyone!
See bellow for a link to the Truthful Healings website where we have a variety of free meditations up for the public to use.
I have been sharing these within my client sessions more so the past couple weeks, so I thought I'd share them here for anyone else looking.
Breath work and meditation are two both fundamental skills that we can all do to help calm and balance our inner energy, clear any stale or build-up of energy in our system, and help open up space to connect to the truth of our Higher Self and Soul.
I like these meditations because they are simple to follow, direct and to the point, and resonate naturally.
My favourites on the site that I use regularly are the motivation one, the nighttime one, and the higher self one.
Enjoy!

One of my favorite quotes....it is so true...
Love this!
Take a moment to stop, take a breath, and just Be. Then let’s teach our children to do the same.
Meditation and our abilities to ‘center’ our selves and our energy are crucial and fundamental skills for us, and for our children, when it comes to working through, balancing, and mastering our own energy systems.
Good morning! Quick note I sent a fellow teacher:
Why I meditate with clients and students: The major reason people are hard to teach is because they get distracted. I happen to believe it’s not so much about technology as it is the emotional and mental disconnection. When we want people to focus we tell them to stop doing something. This doesn’t make sense. Through meditation, you can gently get the attention of the minds by bringing awareness and oxygen there. As long as they are focussed on one thing they hear, the mind responds. So ‘centering’ before doing anything brings the mind to ‘focus’. Then the rest is guiding them on what to focus on. I feel strongly people want to learn and are generally interested, but most have forgotten how. This reminds them to direct their thoughts in a positive way.
I was going through my pictures and found a collection from a past guest-speaker opportunity I did back in May I thought I’d share!
Here, I joined my friends at Natural Pathways Forest and Nature School once again, to lead an opening and grounding meditation to support their private workshop for a group of educators from a local elementary school, to learn more about the importance of Forest School and connection to nature.
Having a connection and relationship with ourselves/ Soul, Mother Earth, and Source energy are essential to our overall health, wellbeing and survival as a human species. Our children need to be supported in this, even if that child is the one inside ourselves. Have you stopped to listen today?
Thank you again Natural Pathways for providing these unique opportunities for education and growth in our region! @ Essex, Ontario
Preschool Yoga Update: Singing Bowls!
My toddlers and preschoolers love when I bring out my singing bowl. I’ve been working with these particular students weekly for coming close to two years now, so they are very familiar with how to use and work with the bowl (it is a clay bowl and it is still intact!) and get very excited when it makes an appearance in our classes.
One of our favorite ways to use the bowl is at the end of class for a cool down activity, where all the students lay down and I come around to each student, place the bowl on their belly or back and gently tap the bowl 3-4 times.
This particular technique of feeling the vibration of the bowl and connecting to their own vibration through sound, helps for a moment to calm down even the most hyperactive and energized child. For most children, these moments of ‘calm’ can be and are temporary, but supporting a child in a simple practice of connecting to their own energy on a regular basis, helps cultivate their self love, self confidence, and self regulation skills. We’ve also had fun trying out the bowl on our feet and hands too which they love!
Also, one more activity I most recently tried with the students and they Loved, was a ‘game’ where we would role the big die, count out loud, then all together do that amount of OM chants, while I tapped along with the singing bowl to keep count. They really got in a good ‘flow’ with the chanting and really enjoyed feeling the vibration they were creating. Towards the end, we even found if we closed our eyes and gently put our fingers over our mouth we could really feel the vibration and have a deeper moment of calm.
Let me know your stories if you have tried similar practices or plan on trying these activities with your children!
Namaste🌞

This past weekend I had the opportunity to teach a private yoga and meditation class for the participants of the Forest School Canada’s Practitioners Course in Point Pelee, hosted by Natural Pathways Forest and Nature School!
With this particular group my intention was connecting back to our Higher Selves, Mother Nature, and our passion within our purpose. We used movement, deep restorative stretching, breathe work, and meditation to open up, let the energy flow, and come inward to better connect with the Truths of mind, heart, body, and soul.
Afterwards they invited me back to listen to another guest speaker, a local First Nations Elder, who spoke about the history of the land, medicinal plants, seeds, and harvest times, and inspiring stories of the work she does with the youth in her community.
I also had some time to explore the park myself before and after the classes. I made sure to “practice what I preach” by doing some active meditation work on the board walk and grounds, connecting again with the “passion in my purpose”.
All in all, it was an awesome day of service, knowledge, nature, and freedom. I met a lot of inspiring educators and practitioners who are each doing impactful and advocacy work with children, youth, and communities in their area. My class itself went so well I forgot to take pictures, but here are some from before and after while I was exploring the park!
Thank you again to Natural Pathways Forest and Nature School, Forest School Canada, and the practitioners for having me this weekend!

There is a unique strength that comes when we can truly be vulnerable with ourselves, looking at our weaknesses for simply what they are, instead of adding layers of shame, guilt, or denial. The moment we allow the Truth to simply Be, whether positive or negative, is the moment we gain more strength, awareness, and freedom within ourselves.
www.heathernodello.com
“So I speak in truth. To honour her (Hope within). To honour myself. Maybe being vulnerable is a strength. As long as you can back it up. Withstand the judgement. To put yourself and truth out there is vulnerable. To do it with intention can serve a purpose. I already know how strong and weak I am. Others accept how strong I am. I hope that by showing the weakness- it offers inspiration. That even the strongest of us allow weakness to Be. Not as a crutch or an excuse- but simply because being human is a mixture of positives and negatives. For me, I make a point of knowing my weaknesses so that I have something concrete to build into strengths.”

One of my favorite props for practicing breath work with my younger students! 🌬
I use this tool a lot because it provides a fun visual the child can track for themselves and helps with their focus. Even my toddler groups enjoy just starting to bring awareness and control to their breath and fine motor skills, and for the ones a bit older (3-6), they enjoy practicing and mastering longer steadier consecutive breaths. 🌬
Breath work is a foundational skill when it comes to balancing and mastering our energy, self regulation skills, stress management, and building self/soul/source connection practices.
And with spring around the corner these little windmills (and bubbles work great too!) should be found at any local dollar store. Pick one up next time and give it a try with your little ones! 🌬
