The universe has sent a message loud and clear that Saturday, June 1st, is not a great day to have our grand opening party. We've had a few setbacks and delays, and I truly want this party to be fun, exciting, and what I envisioned for it. So that being said, I've made the decision to give it some more time.

Busy at planning my new thursday morning class! What a peaceful end to my busy day... the day had its stressors, that's for sure, but I get to come into the yoga room and let that all melt away, and for that, I am eternally grateful. 🥰

Last year, I moved a few little bunches of forget-me-nots from a dark hidden corner next to my porch to along this path beside my house. Just look at them! They've come so far! 😍
This little side garden brings me so much joy ✨️✨️ Also this lilac bush was a key factor in me falling in love with this home. Feeling grateful today for so much growth. 🙏🫶

✨️ VISHNU MUDRA ✨️

If you've been to one of my classes, chances are we've done vishnu mudra. I love the purifying and balancing effects of alternate nostril breathing (nadi shodhana) paired with vishnu mudra. It's a fantastic way to calm the nervous system and balance prana before entering into the movement phase of class.

Vishnu mudra, otherwise known as the "gesture of universal balance," is named in honor of Lord Vishnu, one of the principal deities of Hinduism.

To practice Vishnu mudra, the index and middle finger are curled in toward the palm, whilst the other three fingers remain extended. Vishnu mudra is always practiced with the right hand, symbolic of receiving energy. When using this mudra to perform nadi shodhana, the thumb and the ring finger are used to gently block alternate nostrils as the practitioner moves the breath from left to right.

For maximum benefit, Vishnu mudra should be practiced alongside nadi shodhana for a minimum of 5 to 10 minutes daily, prior to other breathwork practices, meditation, or asana. It can be performed at any time of day and is best practiced on an empty stomach.

What an amazing day I had. I got to treat some truly lovely people today. I had heart-warming chats about life, love, and parenting, I even tried to solve some big world issues with a very thought-provoking client of mine. I introduced someone to yoga in a private session. And he seems very excited about starting on his own yoga journey. I ended my work day teaching a class in my soon to be very own yoga studio! It feels amazing! To walk around this peaceful space and know that I'll be able to call it my own. I'm so happy I could cry. 🥰

I'm so blessed to be doing what I love and what I really WANT out of this beautiful life. 😍

I may have finally hit my glow up Era ✨️✨️✨️

Letting go of the guilt to allow ourselves proper rest or play can be quite difficult. It's something I struggle with myself. Some days we just need rest. Shame-free lie on the couch and do nothing rest.
Societal pressure to be constantly performing at our best plants the seed that is that little voice telling us that we aren't enough, that we aren't doing enough. That we should be working more, playing less and to keep going until everything is done and everything is perfect. That laying down to watch TV or to read a book isn't productive enough. That we should feel guilty for taking days off work to care for our mental health or to prioritize quality time with the family. I call BU****IT! (pardon my language) It's okay to take rest. No need to spiral into the depths of your shame because you felt like doing nothing today. Listen to your body. If you're tired, rest. Just rest. If you feel consumed by responsibility then play. Play with your kids. Go out with your friends. Take a walk. Do you. Take a break. We're not here to work and to be productive until we die. We're here to love ourselves and our loved ones. To enjoy each other and our time. Prioritize love and family and you. Prioritize rest. Prioritize play. Prioritize balance.
