This Black History Month, and every day, we reflect on the profound impact of Black history on UWSA’s journey to success. Join us in celebrating the remarkable contributions of our past Black presidents, embodying the essence of Black excellence.

“My time in UWSA leadership coincided with the beginning of Dr. Alan Wildeman’s tenure as University President in 2008-2009. I felt a deep responsibility to ensure he understood and acted on the needs of all students and worked alongside students in partnership toward a flourishing University community. 

“Yes we can” was our shared leadership mantra as we bore witness to the historic presidential election of Barack Obama in the US. There was a collective sense of hope that change was possible on our campus in areas where it was greatly needed. Student leaders refused to accept the status quo and pushed for increased student financial support, operational and infrastructure changes to better suit the needs of student life, and a more welcoming and equitable campus community for all students. 

Navigating such a storied year as UWSA president shaped me into the leader I am today. And I am grateful to continue to call many of the activists who I had the honour of serving alongside true friends so many years later. We made good trouble together.”

I had the distinct privilege of being president at the end of Dr. Ron Ianni’s tenure as university president. We had a very special relationship, we had many conversations and what I learned from him was that leadership was about service. I focused my time on making the lives of students better and fought for their needs and to ensure that they were provided the best experience at the school and a quality education. But at the heart of it all was a deep love for the University of Windsor, The City of Windsor and the students who created a very unique experience. I cherish dearly the time I spent there. ~ Fanta Williams

On January 26, Veronica Beia notified the University of Windsor Students’ Alliance Board Chair that she would be resigning from her position as the Vice President of Student Life effective immediately. We thank Veronica for the service and contributions she made during her tenure. Moving forward the responsibilities of the VPSL will be managed by the President of the UWSA until the new executive team is elected and starts their term in May 2024.

‼️Multi-faith Space Temporarily Closed ‼️

Due to the power outage at the CAW Student Centre, the multi-faith space will be closed until further notice. To accommodate students who use the space, we have arranged for the Rose Room in Vanier Hall to be open from 8 AM to 10 PM from January 24 to February 2.

To those who use the space for prayer, please note that there are a limited number of prayer mats available. We encourage everyone to bring their own prayer mats.
