April 28, 2021 is the National Day of Mourning and workplaces across Canada dedicate the day to recognize workers who have been killed, disabled, injured or suffered illness as a result of work-related incidents.
We not only remember and honour those who have been killed or injured on the job BUT we also recommit to our fight for the living. Let’s not forget our co-workers and other workers who may have succumbed to an Occupational Disease after being exposed to a hazard at work. Many have died from work related hazards.
Every employee has a right to safe working conditions, and fair compensation.
Remember, honour, and participate by proudly displaying a "Lighted Candle" in your front window or on your balcony. At 8:21 p.m. for 21 minutes for 2021. LIGHT UP! Let it shine for the safety of all frontline workers.
Take a picture, a video and share it on any social media platform.
We need to address the big elephant in the room.
