🌐✨ We were thrilled to be part of @gecdsb Strive 2024 where Aaron Csele delivered a specialized workshop on Internet safety for students with learning disabilities. Our goal is to empower every student with the knowledge and tools they need to navigate the online world safely and confidently. While students received their workshop, parents sat in on a parent version of the lesson delivered by Executive Director, Joanna Conrad. The workshop covered digital footprint and recognizing that not everything we see online is real. We believe that digital literacy is crucial for all, and we’re committed to making the internet a safer space for everyone. One topic in YD's #KYPP program for youth ages 12 - 18 explores explicit content on social media and gaming platforms and its effects on youth and their relationships. Unfortunately, the pervasiveness of pornography on these platforms is high and many kids become exposed, oftentimes unintentionally, before their 11th birthday. Without understanding the negative impact viewing pornography can have, young people use this content as a way to learn about sex and relationships.
