SUSA tile aims to increase the utilization of recycled materials for tiles and ceramics towards environmentally friendly buildings. SUSA tile printing kiosk is a user-friendly tile printer. A customer can input his/her own design into the machine, or choose one of the many design available on the machine. The customer will also input the size of the design to be printed, for instance, the size of a wall or a floor, and the size of each tile. The machine will then subdivide the design into a number of rows and columns of tiles to fit the given wall or the floor, and shows the subdivided image on the screen for customer approval. Customer can make changes at this time, for example, by shifting the design side to side or up and down to center certain aspects of the design, or by choosing and magnifying certain parts of a design. Once the design is approved, the machine will print the design on tiles and number them according to their row and column for easy installation.

With the rapid growth of environmental consciousness, there is a significant demand to materials that are environmentally friendly.However, construction industry has been slow in response.Ceramic tile manufacturing industry operates with less than 5% of recycles material.Although, the market size of tiles in the US was $2.64 billion USD in 2018, only 2-5% of that was from green tiles.The main cause of this is the lack of variety of designs of green tiles as compared to those of regular designs.The currently available green tile designs are mostly made of plain base colors, which make it unattractive to potential customers.

The current method for printing on a tile is very time consuming. There are very few companies in Canada that provide such a service, and their printing cost is significantly higher than the readily available tiles. In addition, none of the tile printing companies provide antimicrobial coating.
