BuffaloHyde Creative
BuffaloHyde Creative is an Indigenous & Family-owned graphic design business in Treaty #1 WPG MB.
We are a small family in Winnipeg MB that seen a gap in the Indigenous digital world for graphic design and video marketing services. Those who know how to work within First Nations communities, are familiar with non-profit and government programming fields, and open to create anything that is Indigenous friendly relating to digital design and content, to print materials, video services and more.
li toneur de la tayr (michif: land thunder). Design is inspired by the buffalo's resilience: from struggle and near extinction to thriving, growing populations. It draws parallels to many of our Indigenous nations and peoples over the last 100+ years, but the final message is the same: We are still here. The unhidden Buffalo shakes the earth with each step. The florals transition from faded, hidden and in the background to bursting with colour and full of life: A celebration of our peoples presence & strength.
Artwork commissioned by EleV Indigenous & Mastercard Foundation to Celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day. EleV recognizes that Indigenous youth are the youngest, fastest growing population in the country and the leaders and agents of change for their communities and the country as a whole.. See less

In 1860, George Kipling, a Metis guide from the Red River Settlement, led 3 American scientist north to Cumberland house to observe an eclipse. Due to poor weather on the trip, in-fighting between the scientists, and a clouds on the day of the eclipse, they did not fully observe what they set out for. “Eclipse morning. Cloudy till eclipse was ¾ way through.”
"Their scientific instruments may have failed them, but the birch bark canoe kept the American scientists safe and the pemmican kept them alive. And maybe the image of bickering professionals asleep at the bottom of a canoe as their guides paddled through the night invites some reconsideration of what scientific labor is, and who performs it. And of whose expertise, technologies, and resources here on Earth have helped enable our scientific discoveries, even when they’re focused on a celestial body over 93 million miles away."
- Josh Levy, Historian of Science and Technology in the Library’s Manuscript Division.

The Metis gained a such a large reputation for their specific style of beadwork that to some, they were known as “The Flower Beadwork People”.
Using both beads & embroidery, the Metis People created beautiful works of art based on the life and connectedness that the natural world offers us. Pieces that tell a story, from seed to fruit to periods of rest. Often designs are asymmetrical, but still balanced.
With the same handcrafted dedication, authenticity, and teachings from our ancestors 200+ years ago, we will work with you to create your own meaningful story to share.
