Had an awesome time at the 2nd Annual Brokenhead Ojibway Nation Fishing Derby last weekend! Big shoutout to Chief Gordon BlueSky, Brokenhead Ojibway Nation and everyone who helped make it happen. We got to fish, meet amazing folks, and swap some great stories. What a day to soak in the beauty of Manitoba outdoors.

We had the opportunity to attend the Indigenous Chamber of Commerce's Takwakin Procurement Event and it was a great day! What a great opportunity to network, learn, and collaborate! Minister Bushie spoke on his own journey and his commitment to continue to work with and support Indigenous businesses.

We're thrilled to share the story of Ramsey, a shining example of how passion and training can open doors to unexpected and exciting opportunities. Ramsey began his journey with us as an aspiring IT Technician supporting businesses and organizations in Brokenhead, but it wasn't long before Ramsey – through the program – was introduced to the world of 3D printing.

Ramsey crafted an ambitious plan to launch a side business, using his newfound expertise in 3D printing. Ramsey's entrepreneurial venture is set to launch in the new year, marking a significant milestone in his career. His story is a testament to how training and employment can be a catalyst for entrepreneurship, boosting confidence and expanding horizons.

Empowering Indigenous Youth Through IT Excellence.

Introducing the Indigenous Digital Innovation Mentorship Program, a unique initiative proudly delivered by IDFusion and Southeast Resource Development Council - SERDC that aims to empower Indigenous communities by creating IT training and job opportunities for young people who are passionate about IT.

Back in October of 2022, we hired 2 IT Technicians in each of the communities of Brokenhead Ojibway Nation, Hollow Water First Nation and Black River First Nation with the goal of training youth to support their communities’ current and future IT needs, rather than relying on outside IT providers. The program provided practical, on-the-job work experience for 15 months where the participants learned the basics of hardware and software, networking, and IT help desk support, guided by coaches and mentors who worked alongside the participants.

This program has empowered the Technicians to acquire the skills and relevant knowledge needed to become future IT experts and gain employment in this fast-growing industry. From learning how to use cutting-edge technologies including virtual reality, to solving everyday technical problems, we’re proud of their work, learning and the confidence they’ve gained, and their commitment to continue their IT learning into the future.
