It is with profound sadness that we reach you on the occasion of the passing of the Honourable Jim Carr. On behalf of the entire Liberal Party of Canada - Manitoba, we send our deepest condolences to his family and friends at this difficult time. As we mourn, let us remember Jim Carr as a person devoted to his family, his community, and as a leader for Winnipeg South Centre, the City of Winnipeg, the Province of Manitoba, Canada, and beyond. We all wish to leave the world better off than how we found it -- Jim Carr succeeded in doing so, and his lasting legacy will stand as a testament to his passion for policy and his ability to bring people together.

Jim Carr never stopped working in service of Canada, with his private member’s bill, the Green Prairie Economy Act, passing through the House of Commons just last week. We leave you with his final speech in the House of Commons, wherein he reflects on his love of Canada. There is no doubt that Canada loved him back.

We will miss you, Jim.

Regards,

LPCM

Manitoba MP pushes for greener prairie economies as he battles cancer "It's not good enough to gab," Manitoba Liberal MP Jim Carr told Power & Politics about his Building a Green Prairie Economy Act. "You have to say to Parliamentarians, we've been at this for a year and here's what we have done so far; here's where we intend to go."

Thank you to the Chudley Family in Fort Richmond for opening their home to Ukrainian refugees. Thanks also to the generosity and solidarity of Manitobans who have stood by Ukraine and Ukrainians as they fight a brutal and illegal war waged against them by Putin’s Russia.

This distinguished Manitoban has won every conceivable championship in curling, including two Men’s World Championships, three Canadian Men’s Championships and a Canadian Masters’ Championship, to name a few.

He was the face, and the voice, of curling both in Canada and abroad for almost 40 years, and no individual has had a bigger impact on the spread of curling throughout the world.

He was curling’s very first colour commentator, beginning a 29-year career with the CBC in 1972, followed by seven years at NBC - covering five Olympics, as well as countless Brier’s, Scotty’s and other championships.

He was inducted into the Canadian Curling Hall of Fame, the Canadian Sports Hall of Fame, and was the very first inductee into the World Curling Hall of Fame.

He was awarded the Order of Manitoba in 2014.

And today, curling great, and my father, Don Duguid received the Order of Canada from the Governor General. Congratulations Dad.

The small businesses in our community are absolutely essential to our lives - and in some instances they become more like family.

Foodfare is one of those small businesses - Moe Zeid has been in the grocery business since 1977. While the Lilac Street location is still there, Moe has grown the organization to five stores solely owned by the Zeid family. Moe is also a member of the Arab-Jewish Dialogue of Winnipeg, and will be receiving the Pearl McGonnigal Grace Hospital Gala Award in recognition of his decades of leadership in our community.

Thank you, Moe and Ramsey for your your warm welcome and for the impact you make in the life of our community, everyday.
