Next, we're happy to welcome Quinn Gauvin to the contest! Quinn is a dancer with the Kapisztran Hungarian Dance Ensemble! Quinn and Kapisztran are long-time friends of the Polish Pavilion!
"The secret to winning an eating contest of any kind is convincing yourself that it's not actually a contest. Just imagine you got back from a long day on your bike and are ready to feast! Do that, and you'll always have room for seconds."

Lastly, we're excited to welcome Motee of Baraka Pita Bakery and Restaurant! A long-time, well-loved establishment on Main Street in Winnipeg! Known for their iconic Lebanese-inspired menu!

GOOD MORNING FOLKLORAMA DAY THREE!

Today, we're very excited to welcome Polish School of Dance Sokół to our pavilion to perform for you!

Since 1972, the Polish School of Dance "Sokół" has provided instruction in Polish folk dance from regions across Poland along with classic and contemporary dance styles. It is currently home to 60 dancers and we're so excited to welcome them tonight!

Remember, tonight (Tuesday) we only have 6:45 pm and 8:15 pm shows! Tickets can be purchased ahead of time online.

We have such love & appreciation for our ambassadors who work so hard everyday to represent our pavilion and welcome our guests!

We're excited to introduce the next two Pierogi Eating Contest participants!

Meet Damian & Obby!

The Długoszy are back with a vengence this year! Bringing in the young blood Damian Długosz to take on the challenge! His name at work is Dr. Diamond due to his diamond setting skills - maybe after Wednesday, he will be known as Dr. Pierogi!

Obby Khan is also back for a threepeat this year! He is our UNDEFEATED Pierogi Eating Champion. Last year, he managed to finish 19 pierogi in three minutes! 😲

Who will take all the glory this year? Only time can tell at the Pierogi Eating Contest, sponsored by Baltic Brothers, ONLY at the Polish Pavilion August 7, 2024 at 7:45 pm!

Over the next few days, we'll reveal who's coming back and who's going up for the first time to take the name of PIEROGI EATING CHAMPION 2023!

First up - Dustin Peltier & Mike Tagami!

Chef Dustin Peltier is the owner of Loaf and Honey. He's a self-taught chef is over 20 years of experience in the kitchen. Here's what he has to say about his upcoming challenge: "...wait, did you say there's CHEESE in the pierogi? I LOVE cheese.. I MAKE cheese! Let my opponents live in fear, the cheese master and new pierogi eating champ is here!"

Mike Tagami is the Energy drive host on Energy 106.1 from 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm daily. We're excited to have him out for the first time to try and take the pierogi eating champion title!

Meet the fourth of our amazing Polish Pavilion Ambassadors! This is Eva! ✨

"My name is Ewa Karpyza, and I am very pleased to be the Adult Ambassador at the Polish Pavilion for the second time.

I was born in Poland and immigrated to Canada as a child. Once here in Winnipeg, we were welcomed
into the Polish community. As an adult, I have volunteered at a number of Polish organizations, especially when my children were growing up and involved in Polish school and Polish dancing.

For the past 34 years, I have volunteered at the Polish Pavilion during Folklorama in various supporting positions.

My children Jessica and Alex were involved in the SPK Polish School of Dance and SPK Iskry for many
years (15 and 25 years), and I am very proud to say that my grandchildren, Ruby and Nash, are carrying
on the family tradition of Polish dancing. It is exciting for me to see them be further immersed in the Polish culture through the dance group.

I would like to welcome everyone to the Polish Pavilion to experience first-hand, our delicious food,
special drinks, lively music and fabulous dancing by SPK Polish School of Dance and SPK Iskry!"

"My name is Alexandra, I am 17 years old, and it is my second year dancing at the Polish School of Dance SPK Iskry.

Before Polish dancing, I did ballet for 7 years. My favourite sport is basketball, and I enjoy drawing in my spare time. I also love travelling and being outdoors.

Last year was my first time performing at Folklorama, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. It was incredibly fulfilling to celebrate my cultural heritage through dance and traditional attire, surrounded by supportive family and friends.

I am very excited and grateful to be given the opportunity to represent the Polish Pavilion as Youth Ambassador!"

It's time to introduce one of our Adult Ambassadors for 2024!

Meet Jess! Jess is a former member of SPK Iskry and is proud to be an Adult Ambassador with her mom, Eva, this year! (We'll introduce Eva soon! 😊)

"🌟 Hi, I'm Jessica, and I'm thrilled to be one of the Adult Ambassadors at the Polish Pavilion this year! 🇵🇱✨

Since I was 5, I've been dazzled by the magic of the Polish Pavilion. With my parents being Polish, I naturally gravitated towards our rich cultural arts and joined the Dance Ensemble SPK Iskry. Dancing on stage, exploring Poland's diverse regions through dance, and connecting with fellow culture enthusiasts has been a life highlight.

My passion for the arts continues as I now love to watch my kids dance in our early groups. Representing the Polish Pavilion this year is an absolute honour.

Come and join us at the Polish Pavilion from August 4th to 10th! Bring your appetite and be ready for an unforgettable experience of culture, history, music, food and dance!"

“My name is Lilya, and I am the Youth Ambassador for the Polish Pavilion. I enjoy playing volleyball, spending time with friends and family and being outdoors.

One of the things I love most about being a part of the Polish School of Dance, SPK Iskry, is getting to share my culture and having the opportunity to dance in Folklorama and other concerts.

I enjoy sharing my culture with others. I’ve been dancing since I was 5 years old and still enjoy dancing today. I am very thankful to be a part of this community and to have the chance to represent our pavilion as a Youth Ambassador this year.”
