Don’t give up on the bull market just yet💡

Fear-mongering headlines might catch your eye, but let’s look at the data:

When the S&P 500 is up double digits at the midpoint of the year, the full year has never ended lower. In fact, the average annual return in these years is +25.1%.

For the rest of the year, the average gain is +7.7% (with a median of +9.8%), and the market continues to climb nearly 83% of the time.

If you’re feeling wary about those big mid-year gains, remember - a strong first half often signals a strong finish.

Stay invested, stay informed, and let the data guide your decisions.

Buybacks are a powerful message from management 👇

When management opts to repurchase their own shares, it reflects a strong belief in the company.

Instead of distributing their free cash flow or spending on capital expenditures, they're confident that their stock is undervalued so they buy back their shares.

Stock buybacks are good for the long-term holders because total earnings always get divided into earnings per share (EPS).

The fewer shares you have, the higher your EPS is.

Parents – Have you ever been appalled by how some approach youth sports with their children?

They’re not training for the Olympics; they’re kids.

The ‘car ride home’ has become an iconic part of the sports experience, but it’s time we transform it from a critique session into a moment of growth and connection.

Instead of playing the coach, why not embrace your role as their number one fan and supporter?

Avoid jumping straight into a criticism.

Allow them the chance to voice their thoughts first and initiate a dialogue about the game.

Questions like...

How do you feel you did today?
What lessons did you take away from the game?
Is there anything you're being hard on yourself for that you need to move past?
What successes did you experience?
What areas are you looking to improve in practice?

These types of questions encourage them to reflect and share, fostering a sense of comfortability and confidence in their skills and decision-making.

Focus on your child’s mental health instead of imposing lofty expectations to be at the top of their game every day.

As a father of four actively involved in their sports journeys, I’ve witnessed firsthand the importance of prioritizing the person over the player.

Remember, kids in sports are humans first and athletes second.

Not the other way around.

I’m running across New Brunswick in May!🙌🎊

Last May, I ran 506 km from the Saskatchewan-Manitoba border to the Manitoba-Ontario border in 12 days, raising awareness for congenital CMV - the leading cause of infant birth defects in Canada.

Now, I’m taking on 25 half marathons in 13 days totaling 527 km across New Brunswick!

While several provinces have implemented universal newborn screening for cCMV, the Maritimes lack such a program which is why this is so important to me.

Inspired by my hero Terry Fox, I’m inviting others to join me by running alongside me, donating to the Canadian CMV Foundation, or sponsoring the event.

The run starts on May 4th and ends on May 16th, but stay tuned for plenty more content leading up to the journey! 🎉

Festival Du Voyageur CG Style!

Today at the office, we had a delicious brunch made by our wonderful chefs to celebrate Festival week!

This brunch kicks off a busy weekend of festivities 👀

Tomorrow, we're (CMV Canada) also hosting the beard growing contest at the Marion Hotel at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday!

In addition to this, my family is participating in Lii jeux Michif which will take place at 2:30-3:30 at Terrasse à Chansons at the Park.

My kids and I will be competing in games against 2 other families, competitions ranging from cooking Bannock, to fire starting and more.

Busy weekend ahead - lots of fun to be had and memories to be made!

This year marks nearly a decade since I first appeared as a guest on BNN! 📺

It feels like just yesterday when I anxiously stepped onto that set, eager to share my insights with everyone.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of discussing a wide range of topics – from market trends and economic forecasts to industry innovations and emerging opportunities.

Each segment has been a unique opportunity to connect with viewers and contribute to meaningful conversations.

I am ecstatic to announce that I have completed all of my coursework for my PhD in Global Business and Leadership! 🎉

I'm now transitioning to writing my thesis, which I hope to finish this year in order to graduate in October. 🎓

It’s been a four-year journey filled with challenges, growth, and invaluable lessons that have shaped not only my academic career but also greatly aided my personal and professional development.

Throughout this journey, I have completely immersed myself in the coursework and applied 100% of it to my business and industry.

From analyzing operations to fine-tuning our processes, and even improving my leadership skills—every paper I wrote was like adding another tool to my belt. 🛠

Every theory I've dissected, every concept I've wrestled with, has helped me improve my business in ways that I didn’t necessarily anticipate.

Looking back, there were moments when I wanted to throw in the towel.

Late-night study sessions, endless research, you name it. Every obstacle only made me dig my heels in deeper.

Now, as I embark on the final leg of my PhD journey, with the goal of completing my thesis and graduating this year, I am filled with a sense of anticipation and determination.

I carry with me the lessons learned, the challenges conquered, and the endless possibilities that lie ahead.

My PhD journey has been more than an academic pursuit; it's been a transformative experience that has enriched my life in countless ways.

I am forever grateful for the support of my wife, colleagues, and loved ones who have stood by me every step of the way.

Here's to the next chapter, to embracing the unknown, and to never, ever stopping learning. 📚

Last weekend, I had the incredible opportunity to take some of my team down to Huntington Beach, California to run the Surf City Half Marathon ☀ 🌴

It wasn’t just about crushing the race; it was about pushing yourself, setting goals beyond the office, and embracing a healthy lifestyle together.

Similar to my belief in the value of education, investing in experiences like these isn’t just about the immediate outcome.

It’s about building a culture of growth and camaraderie within our team.

The 3 main goals of the weekend were to…

1️⃣ Promote Well-being 💆‍♂️ Prioritizing our team’s health and well-being is a fundamental part of building a resilient and high-performing team.

By encouraging physical activity and shared experiences, we’re investing in not only their personal growth but also in creating a healthier workplace culture.

2️⃣ Push Limits 🏃‍♂️ Beyond the office walls, our team embraced the challenge of a half marathon.

It wasn’t necessarily about reaching a certain time but rather collectively pushing ourselves and celebrating each other’s successes.

3️⃣ Create Meaningful Connections 👥 Just like the power of vulnerability in storytelling, shared experiences like these create lasting memories for everyone involved.

It fosters a sense of belonging, trust, and authenticity, which isn’t always easy to reach in an office setting.

As I reflect on the weekend, I’m reminded of the importance of investing in our team’s well-being beyond traditional metrics of success. It’s about building meaningful connections and ultimately, creating a workplace where everyone can thrive.

Because of everyone’s dedication and persistence to train and crush 13.1 miles, we created life-long memories together from just one weekend.

Let’s continue to push boundaries, embrace new challenges, and invest in the well-being of our teams.

After all, they’re one of the most important pieces of the puzzle for building a foundation of success at the workplace. 💪

Goals were scored, laughs were had, and the Bulls extend their win streak to 1 game in a row 🔥
