On November 4, 33 cadets, 1 parent and 1 staff member participated in the Winnipeg South Osborne Legion Poppy Day. They tagged at 4 locations in 2 hour shifts from 0800hrs to 1600hrs at the Safeway at River & Osborne, Sobeys on Bishop Grandin, Sobeys on Taylor and the Superstore on St Annes. The coin boxes were replaced at all locations except the Safeway, and all poppy trays were refilled multiple times throughout the day (estimated over 3300 poppies distributed)
The Poppy Chair has counted the boxes and a total of around $4765 was collected by our group.
He sends his congratulations and thanks us for a job well done. The funds will go to support our veterans and those in need.

An extensive and exciting summer training program across the country is on the way! Our regional teams are working hard delivering offers of employment and cadet participation to Corps and Squadron staff. In some cases, there may be delays in the delivery of these offers to ensure we can provide a healthy work-life balance for our personnel this summer and maintain a safe training environment for all participants. We thank you for your continued understanding and patience.

It's okay to not be okay. There is help available 24/7. Cadets can always talk to friends, family and other trusted adults, as well as access a variety of mental health resources.
By learning more about mental health, we can reduce the stigma of mental illness in our schools, our corps/squadrons, our homes and our communities. Let's create positive change!
December 10th is and our Squadron marked this occasion with a visit to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. In the morning, we were treated to a guided tour to get our bearings and understand what the museum is about.
In the afternoon we were sent on our own journeys to experience the museum. Through the different exhibits and interactive stations, we learned about human rights issues faced not just in the past, but to this day. This set us on the path to be able to discuss these issues and look ahead with hope of a better future.
Thank you to the interpreters at the Canadian Museum for Human Rights for sharing this experience with us.
Through your efforts, the Squadron raised over $2000 on Giving Tuesday, and over $500 through the Village Brew campaign! A heartfelt thanks to those that so generously contributed to these drives.
Without fundraising, activities like this weekend's museum tour wouldn't be feasible. We're still far short of the $10,000 needed to support this year's extra-curricular programs.
Our next fundraiser is a quick one; Fundscrip. Some of you may have heard of it. In its most basic form, you buy gift cards, and the squadron gets a percentage of sales. For more detailed information, you can check out www.fundscrip.com .
The Fundraising Committee would generally shy away from programs that offer such little benefit. However, as a holiday promotion, FundScrip has increased the return on quite a few of the retailers. Some in the "10%" club are: Boston Pizza, Montana's, Original Joe's, Hello Fresh, and Roots! Gift cards make great stocking stuffers, gifts for teachers, and year end "Thanks" for employees and coworkers!
We're starting the campaign immediately.
Orders submitted and paid by December 12th (this coming Monday) will be available for pickup at the last parade of the year - December 19th.
Submit your orders through this form: https://form.jotform.com/223405272704247
You can save the form, and modify it later.
Once you're confident you've checked off everything you'd like, make note of the total, and press Submit at the bottom of the form.
Send a cheque (made out to 199 RCACS) or cash for the total amount on Monday, December 12. I'll be at the Legion to collect that night from 6:30 - 7:00, and again from 9:00 until 9:30.
If fundraising isn't your thing, but you'd still like to help, the Squadron is always accepting donations through www.canadahelps.org/en/charities/199rcacs/
Every little bit helps. Even $5 or $10 can go a long way if everyone chips in! Donating is also a great way to minimize your tax liability. All donations made through canadahelps.org receive an instant tax receipt.
As always, if you have any questions, comments, or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
Regards,
Chris Brown

To Promote Physical Fitness…
This is one of the aims of the Air Cadet Program. Our Cadets were challenged to ‘get up and move’ as they took part in a physical fitness challenge including an obstacle course, dodgeball, tag and paper airplane competition.
While these are not your typical sports, it goes to show the creativity of our Cadets in creating a competition where the Cadets get moving around.
What do our Cadets look for when they come to learn?
Our Level One Cadets shared their thoughts as they were introduced to the new PHASE program. When they think of a safe learning environment, our Cadets believe in concepts like respect, kindness, understanding and physical safety.
PHASE (Promoting Healthy And Safe Experiences) is a new program aimed towards helping to create, maintain and support safe spaces within the Cadet program.
The PHASE program is delivered to all Cadets with sessions set throughout the training year.
Today we honour those who have served and continue to serve at home and abroad. We remember those who came home injured and those who never came home at all.
Our Cadets represented the Air Cadet Program at Remembrance Day services at the Winnipeg South Osborne Legion and the Joint Veterans Association at the RBC Convention Centre.
Just in time before the Christmas holiday madness. Shop from home!
This makes a great gift!
We have partnered up with The Village Brew, a local Manitoba company ethically sourcing organic coffee and teas.
We will be selling coffee and tea, and who doesn’t like that.
Make your purchase before Nov 30. Pick up on the 12 and 19 of December (Monday’s) at the Winnipeg South Osborne Legion, 426 Osborne St
It has a great return for the squadron, we will receive 24$ for every 100$ purchased.
